PATRIOTS NEWS OFFICIAL: Patriots Finally Acquire AJ Brown

Breaking New England Patriots Team News
They're not wrong either.
During the 2025 NFL regular season, A.J. Brown posted one of the elite drop metrics in the league, displaying exceptional reliability across his targets. Depending on how tracking services calculated specific pass catchability, his regular season drop metrics ranged between 0.8% and 3.6%: [1, 2, 3]
  • PFF Metric: He dropped just 1 pass on 120 targets and 78 receptions, registering a 0.8% drop rateand ranking among the absolute best in the NFL. [1, 2, 3]
  • Alternative Tracking: Other advanced analytics charts marked him with 3 drops on 127 targets, giving him a 3.6% drop rate, which still tracks significantly safer than the wide receiver league average (≈ 5.5% - 7.0%). [1, 2]
  • Catch Rate Over Expectation: He finished the year +6.8% (6th among all NFL wide receivers), making highly difficult catches look routine.

Allegedly..

Howie played Eliot like a fiddle. He knew that nobody - not even Eliot The **** - was giving him a 2027 1st or even 2nd for AJB. So he set his sights on Plan B: A 2028 1st. Even then, there were very, very few teams willing to consider giving him even that, especially when there's a vig of a '27 middle-of-Day-3 pick to include... If it weren't for Eliot The **** and Mister Loyalty/Infidelity being so blatantly obvious in their man-love for AJB and so reeking of desperation, Howie would've had to settle for a 2028 2nd-rounder and likely Nothing else, aka AJB's true value.

This might be true, but the Eagles didn't have to trade Brown nor would he sit out the season when he's due $29M. Pats needed to make this move as their WR room wasn't good enough as is.

As I've mentioned previously, this trade hurts the Eagles more than it helps them. Although it's unlikely with Brown, they still had a very small opening left in that window for one more title run. This trade puts the nail in the coffin.

This is very similar to the Pats trading Seymour in 2009 to the Raiders for a 2011 1st round pick. The Pats were the losers in this trade because A) they lost their best DL B) they couldn't use the pick for two years. Seymour was more valuable staying with the Pats as serious favorites in the NFL than trading him away. He played at a high level through 2011 while the Pats DL was crap.

Not saying you're wrong about his value, but I wonder if the "Eagles have to trade AJ Brown" narrative would have had so much momentum if Vrabel and the Pats weren't very vocal about wanting him and encouraging Brown into forcing the issue. That's why the Eagles stocked up on WRs and made it obvious they were getting rid of him. So while I can see your point about it hurt their leverage in what pick to give up, I think it also helped force a deal to happen at all.

No reason to be concerned he’s just in his early stages of the Brown family mental breakdown. Antonio went through it and look at where he is today… doing really well.

I think we're now loaded with some unknowns T-Rex - Lomu - Moses - Bryant and Crownover.

And don't forget James Hudson, the owner of perhaps the Worst sequence of snaps by an Offensive Lineman in 2025:
