if the steelers defense allows stuff like that, i feel better for the Pats D to do the same

I was just gonna come here and post that, the number two ranked defense lost one just like we did today, even if we lose next week we can say we didn't get sweeped by our worst rivial in our own division.:rocker:

They must have heard you Deus:

vs. Pats 365 passing, 98 rushing
vs. Ravens 330 passing, 70 rushing

Yep... but it was too little, too late. Sounds familiar, doesn't it?

Well Tony Dungy just proclaimed that the Ravens are the best team in the AFC because of how well Flacco is playing. He apparently conveniently forgot the phenomenal offensive performance they had against the Jaguars two weeks ago (just like many of the posters complaining on this board).

I think the constant shuffling of "favorites" in the AFC shows how wide open the AFC is this year. It also shows how important next week's game against the Jets is as the division is the only guarantee to get into the playoffs.

This plus the fact that the Patriots have BB and Brady makes these losses a little easier. After next week the schedule gets quite a bit easier and if they can get to the playoffs, who knows what might happen. The Pats have a lot of issues, but I think a lot of them could be helped by some crappy weather in the playoffs.

Peyton Manning and the Colts aren't coming to Foxboro, MA in January.

Tebucky Jones & Lawyer Milloy to Eugene Wilson & Rodney Harrison to Brandon Meriweather & James Sanders to sheer trash at the safety position. The defensive talent drain is simply inexplicable.

No it really wasn't. He was not playing the football and impeded the receiver. If he turned back on the ball he was fine, but he didnt and that is the rule.

Correct.

He blocked the WR from coming back for the ball and wasnt turned around playing the ball. PI every time.

No, he is not continually in the wrong place, you are absolutely wrong. Sometimes? Yes

Yes, he is. Watch where Brady throws the ball and where Ocho is.

ZERO catches in 3 games.

Price wasn't even active today. If Ocho is as terrible as you say, what does that say about Price?

It says that 6 million bucks will get you activated.

Are you saying that Belichick and Kraft are sacrificing the teams productivity on offense by using Chad scrubocinco instead of a promising prospect like Price who could help much more just because they want to get thier money's worth??

If so,thats quite a statement

Should our defense be riding in the short bus?

During our heyday, we had a very smart defense....
Vrable, Bruschi, Ty Law, McGinnest, Harrison... ect

I look at todays defense and I just do not see any players that impress
me with their football smarts.....

Arrington is our best playmaker on defense this year.

Look at Mayo.... He has 4 forced fumbles, in his career and no interceptions.

We use to move our defenders all over the place prior to the snap and offenses never knew what
we were going to do.

Remember how Belichick use to confuse Manning.
I remember the playoff game, he moved Harrison and Wilson into the
CB position to hit the receiver within the 5 yard chuck zone.

Today we play vanilla zone, or vanilla man coverage.
Belichick did not forget how to coach and scheme.

I just don't think we have the brains or talent on defense to run
anything but the vanilla defense.

Re: Tracy "fing" White

Except that Manning didn't "march them right down the field". The REFS marched the Giants right down the field. They missed numerous holding calls, particularly Manningham (while standing OOBS) holding McCourty on Manning's run and the BS PI call on Arrington.

I've been glad to see you becoming less of a homer, but now instead of attacking 'chicken littles' so much, you've turned your wrath towards the referees week after week to the point of being like a broken record. I've never gotten people who consistently use poor officiating as an excuse for losing.

Why not just acknowledge that the better team won today (and last week). This team has some big problems right now (some of which you acknowledge), but constantly complaining about the refs is about the biggest exercise in futility (or denial) that I can imagine.

How would it look for Stinko to be in street clothes on the sideline with his pay check?Think the media might notice? Its already bad enough that he cant catch a cold.

He and Brady have no chemistry and Brady does not trust him for some reason. Maybe its practice. Maybe he drops too many balls. Who thought that he couldnt grasp the playbook?

Re: Should our defense be riding in the short bus?

You're making a big assumption here that lack of creativity implies lack of football smarts. I don't see it.

fanboys....fanboys...where are you? what excuses do you make today??????

Re: Should our defense be riding in the short bus?

for some reason I lol'd at the title. I thought the schemes and execution were good outside of the final 3 minutes. Then we forgot how to cover properly and made some stupid mistakes.

Guess you didn't watch the game.

It says a lot that it took three eff-ups by two backups to lose despite how bad the offense was playing. The Giants did nothing on that last drive except picking on White and Brown. If those two aren't forced into action, the Pats win this and you have to work harder to think of something to complain about.

Ochocinco comes up empty again

Tom Brady targeted Ocho five times. The incompletions were -- in nearly every case -- not even near misses.

Whether it was Brady making poor throws, Ocho running the wrong routes at the wrong depth and with the wrong timing, it's impossible to divine.

If you don't see it, I suggest you open your eyes.

Do you think Belichick would have run a soft zone defense against the
Rams in 2001, or against the Colts in 2003, or 2004?

Why don't we scheme anymore?
What we do today is not what we did in years past.

Is it the success of our defense of 2011 (#32 "last" YPG in 2011 prior to
this week) ?

It says that a mediocre team (Giants) was missing its #1 WR, its #1 RB and its starting center, and was still able to march down the field and beat the Patriots defense.
