I just hate that now this is a game because of Jimmy going down. If he doesn't get hurt, we're likely up 31-0, pretty much game over. Now it's 24-3, and they have a shot only because it doesn't look like we will be moving the ball much on offense for the rest of the game.
Jimmy getting hurt isn't why the defense let them get into FG range at the end of the half.
The Pats will be fine. Just need to keep running the offense with quick passes and well timed runs.
I mean Jimmy G was on fire in the first quarter and played great up until he got hurt, but when Miami started to get some pressure, he started to miss some throws.
The bigger issue in my opinion is the Pats are down to one QB.
1. I don't think we'll see JG today, NOR on Thursday, so winning THIS game becomes even more critical. Stopping Miami on that first series will be big.
2. Aside from the injury, this has been a great game for the Pats offense and defense. The OL has been good in protection, less so in opening runs.
3. Defenses in the NFL are good, and even when they start to get shredded by schemes, they WILL over time adjust, just as Miame has over the last half of the 2nd quarter. So points are going to be hard to come by, especially since with a 21 point lead, will take time off the clock over yards every time.
4. What would have been a laugher, will be very interesting to watch. The defense is going to have to finally score some points.
I hope they don't get too conservative in the 2nd half. Not sure our running game is up to it. Play like we did in the first half because this Miami secondary is not good.
That sucks about Jimmy G. I mean really sucks. Kid has been waiting 3 years to get his shot, comes out looking spectacular, then this happens. My heart breaks for him, hope he's OK, you can tell how badly he didn't want to leave the field.
One positive takeaway from that half on offense is our WR unit may be the best it has been since 2012. Amendola looks the healthiest he's been since his very first game here against Buffalo where he got injured, and it seems like he's been injured ever since. Edelman is a beast when healthy and it shows (even if he missed a couple Jacoby throws). Chris Hogan seems to always get separation, and Malcolm Mitchell looks to have huge upside with potential as a deep threat.
On defense, what a first half. Finally got a couple of turnovers, have generally been successful at getting pressure, and as others have said Chris Long seems to everywhere in the backfield. If the D continues to perform at this level (and that's certainly a big if), there's no way Miami is putting up more than 21 on them in the second half.

Defense was in prevent mode....that was strategy....burn the clock give them the 3....D in first series after the half better be balls to the wall....if we aren't crunching every receiver or knocking Tanny down every play....our D isn't doing their job
I think people want to trade Jimmy G because he is not as good as Brady and in the world of team building, a team (unless you are the Eagles) shouldn't pay market rates to have two starting QBs on the roster.
It also hurts that the league keeps penalizing the Pats high draft picks. The only other option would be to trade Brady. If Jimmy is the future, that would be the decision that would have to be made.
