Rarely "wish the worst for someone", but seeing Ward out pleases me. Even if "he isn't great in space and NE could take advantage", I am just glad the team I root for doesn't get subjected to his cheap shots for one evening.
During earlier warm-ups there were 4 medical personnel out on the field attending to Gilmore. Could be a long night. We may need to score on every possession to win this one.
Even with Gronk out Pats should be able to take advantage of a depleted defense missing two starters at LB and both starting S’s. Sitting him giving him extra time off is the right move.
