Incomples on third down followed by a field goal are at least better than having the other team catch it... I'm gonna put my homer glasses on and call that progress with my happy voice. Nobody can see me cry behind my glasses.
It's early, for sure, fair enough, but if you are the Pats' qb in this game, and you're any better than mediocre, this is a situation you ought to be able to DEAL with.
