Yes we have lost a LT so far.
Amendola and Butler were integral parts of the last 2 SB winning teams, there has never been a more significant defensive play then Butler made in 2014, and Amendola was clutch in both SBs.

You are the type of person who will marginalize these players now but if we resigned them you would be posting about how important they are and smart it was for us to resign them.

MCourty's CAP number is $11.9mm. Could we not get Honey badger for less for CAP savings by a trade of McCourty? How many on this forum think MCourty is a $12mm player? Maybe I am wrong here?
Thoughts?

Sure but I’m saying having a boatload of cap space is usually more bad than good because it means you don’t have talent.

And you're the type of guy that would pay someone $15M for one great play, and pay our #4 WR starter money.

So you want Solder, Amendola and Butler at the contracts they were handed by those respective teams?

Not going to be one of the negatives who pile on, but I fail to see how we’re “at least as good as last year,” and the insinuation that we may even be better is silly.

Also, add the top KR to your list since Lewis is gone. We’ll need to address both returners. Most importantly, it seems like the organization needs to smooth some things out with its two biggest leaders, or else one of them may not even choose to play. One would think that could have been done in the past 5-6 weeks unless they can’t reach a middle ground.

Yes, the Pats will have questions at KR and PR.
Prior to Amendola, Edelman was the man at PR.

It will be interesting to see if Cyrus Jones will be given a chance again.
Riley McCarron is a dark horse as a return man. He did both in college.

Why is the "insinuation that we may be better than last year" silly? If the 7 guys on defense who were injured bounce back and stay healthy, the defense should be better than last year with the exception of the starting corner opposite Gilmore.

There is so much that can happen between now and training camp and even the beginning of the season we don't know how this team will shape up.

We are really killing it in free agency so far; lost our starting CB, RB, and LT, plus our top slot WR.
Umm.. Edelman is our top Slot WR.. Even if he is coming back from injury..

If you didn't prepare yourself for Butler leaving since last year that's on you.

Lewis, good player but RBs are plug & play in NE and Burkhead was re-signed.

It took the biggest contract for an OT in the history of the NFL for Solder to leave. Pats aren't paying that to a OT that will be 30 in a few weeks.

Amendola, is not the top slot guy. Edelman is. Amendola was projected to be the 4th-6th on the depth chart going in to training camp. He also got $6m per. You don't pay $6m per to a guy that is 4th on the depth chart and your backup slot guy.
I love how insignificant Danny Amendola has become to many of you guys.

How do you expect to be taken seriously when you use "kep" and "erbody" in a post. Did not using TEVY save you that much time?
I’m a big supporter of typing how you speak. I have no problem with it. But damn, your response was funny as hell.

I’d argue we’re better already with health and our NT addition on defense and we still have FA options and the draft. Butler was average at best last year.

Would be so funny if we sign Mike Mitchell after all the crap he talked.

I don't see it happening.. Because of all the crap he talked.

Crazy, there’s hardly been any news over the last half an hour.

The Free Agency season definitely runs differently than it used to.

I love how insignificant Danny Amendola has become to many of you guys.

Not insignificant to anyone I bet. I believe he should be in the Pats HoF.

We can speak constructively. How would you restructure the team to keep him at 6yr?

(By the way my other post had 1 typo, excuse me)

No, I never said that but I would like the posters in here to be realistic and admit that we have not had a great start to free agency.

Danny Amendola has become insignificant to nobody. I am glad that he got a huge pay day based upon his history of clutchness. It's a shame there is a salary cap and there's no way NE could come close to that number.

And I want you to tell us, should the Patriots have kept Solder, Lewis, Butler and Amendola at the contracts they were getting?
