Official Free Agency 2018

No, I never said that but I would like the posters in here to be realistic and admit that we have not had a great start to free agency.
Obvious troll you are! Mods, ban this man!

I wonder if the Pats will consider bringing back Angelo Blackson.. He's a SFA because the Texans didn't tender him an offer.. Blackson was signed off the Pats PS by the Texans November of last year.

Not insignificant to anyone I bet. I believe he should be in the Pats HoF.

We can speak constructively. How would you restructure the team to keep him at 6yr?

(By the way my other post had 1 typo, excuse me)
I would not restructure to keep him at $6M. As I said in my previous post I have no problem with us not signing the players at their respective cost but to sit here and act as if this has not been a dreadful start to free agency for us is delusional at best.

Amendola and Butler were integral parts of the last 2 SB winning teams, there has never been a more significant defensive play then Butler made in 2014, and Amendola was clutch in both SBs.

You are the type of person who will marginalize these players now but if we resigned them you would be posting about how important they are and smart it was for us to resign them.

Butler was gone anyway as was Lewis. Dola was a WR4 who was clutch on third downs and especially in the playoffs. But he was still just a WR4. He got a 8.25m/12m 2 year contract. He was gone the moment he got the offer.

Solder is the only player where you can say the Pats actually tried to keep him because he makes the team considerably better but could not get a deal done. He was lost. The others not so much.

Was it a great or good start? No, but nobody said that. On the other hand, what should they have done according to you? Match the contracts the Patriots' own FAs were getting? Sign some of the FAs that have been signed out there at the contracts they are getting?

WTF do you know about being Realistic? You've been one of the debbie downer crowds for ages.. You critique everything BB does as if it's the end of the World if you happen to disagree with it.

And you're the type of guy that would pay someone $15M for one great play, and pay our #4 WR starter money.

That’s not fair. Butler did a lot more for us then “one great play”. He was a pro bowler a few years ago. Amendola was a lot more to NE then a 4th WR. He was huge in the big moments and was one of the best playoff players in the teams history. Obviously Bill held him back a bit in the regular season and saved him for when it counted.

I think you missed the point in that post...

And I want you to tell us, should the Patriots have kept Solder, Lewis, Butler and Amendola at the contracts they were getting?
I would have to see the structures of the contracts first.

I'd call it more of an expected start - except Solder..that one surprised me.

4 of my favorite players have left. Really. Lewis is so much fun to watch, Butler is forever a hero, Solder was playing great down the stretch, and you know how I feel about DA - he and Jules are my two biggest binkies.

But, the Pats are deep at WR and couldn't afford to spend there with other needs.
They weren't going to give 4/23.5 to a running back in their RBBC formula.
Butler was obviously gone...BB had no use for him, literally. Ah well.

Even after "the purge," that Pats O looks fine to me.

And the D needs a couple of tweaks. Shelton filled a huge need after the bandaids put there last year when Branch battled his injuries.

They still got some money to spend and I expect another DL and a LB.

Trent Murphy spurns patriots to sign with bills....ughhhh

You just have issues with reading comprehension.
You blow with the wind, my friend. You are not objective in any discussion, it is hard to have a legitimate discussion with you.

You’re not providing the solution or alternate plays we should have signed.

I am withholding judgement until FA is complete.

However, Butler for multiple and Lewis at that cost should absolutely not be back.

DA is debatable if we didn’t offer him 4per for example and we won’t know.

Don’t know how you can resign NS for anything close at 30yo and a guy who has considered retirement.

... a dreadful start to free agency for us ...

Who would you have signed, for the contract that he signed for, and who would you have NOT signed, for the contract that he signed for?

If you can't identify any specific thing, then it's just a whinefest.

Just shut up. And especially dont give anyone on this board any lesson about appreciating Amendola. You should have a ****ing plugin on you that prevents from even writing his name after your clownshow about him since he was signed.
