A little bird told me to look out for a name...Jake Fisher

Literally (cash-wise), yes. Cap-wise/contract terms, he has no more guaranteed money coming aside from the signing-bonus pro-rata ($2M in 2018 & $2M in 2019).

Our difference is not the literal contracts; it is a matter of economic perspective. As of today, the team and, players, make decisions on NEW MONEY. A team does not cut or keep a player because of the bonus they paid 3 years ago. The question is what do I NOW have to pay to secure the services of the player.

The economic concept is called "sunk cost". We should NOT make decisions based on money long gone.

What is that supposed to mean? Are we supposed to go to Foxboro with pitchforks and tiki torches?

Solder isn't the first big name player they've lost in the last 18 years. On the whole it's worked out ok (not every individual situation of course, just on the whole). I'm working on the assumption that they have a decent plan B.... because historically they always have. If they don't, or if the plan B appears to be a really bad choice, then I'll start being upset.
Show emotion other than "oh well, good luck Nate thx for the memories"

I didn’t know Zach Brown was a FA....

Go get Zach Brown, Trent Murphy, and Ndamukong Suh.

As you know, I'm not sure the Pats could (or would) match that. However, the Jets now have a pretty decent run-stopping tandem at ILB with Williamson and Demario Davis.

Isn't Davis a Free Agent? Or did he re-sign?

Why didn’t B.B. bring all these guys back? Cap is crap.

And besides Lewis and Amendola, all those players were initially drafted or signed as UDFA by the Patriots.

BB the coach killing BB the GM, but doing too good a job developing his players

If the team WANTED to pay Solder $15M a year for four years, they could have found the space. I don't think that Solder is worth the contract he signed. I believe some of the bonus could even be moved to guaranteed 2019 salary.

EXAMPLE
Signing bonus $28M.
Salaries: $1M, $8M, $10M, $13M
2018 cap $8M

Folks should go back and look at the first year of the Gilmore contract, We CAN sign players for a high AAV with a low first year cap hit.

They had no choice, because they didn't have the cap space.

Whether Solder is a "great" LT or not, he was the best that Pats had, by far, and there's no replacement LT at Solder's level immediately available.

People paying out the nose for Patriots talent.

Part of me wants to say out FO is genius for using dominance as an incentive to sign. Makes teams have to up the ante even more, restricting their spending in the long run.

This is my form of self therapy to deal with the losses haha.

How good has he been? Fairly young right?
Yep, he is a RT tackle, but I think they move Cannon to LT. Fisher is only 24 I believe. Now that the bungholes traded for Glenn, they will probably trade him.

Also , is this the year we draft a new kicker? Cutting Gost saves us 3.5 million.

lol.. **** kicking.. lets save 3.5m.. what is this ? The Champions League ? Lets goooo

Gotta love the mediot narrative

Best Lineman? He was not the Pats best OL, i'd put Cannon, Mason and Andrews ahead of him and Thuney was pretty much on-par with him

Top slot guy? Did Edelman get cut, traded or retire? When Edelman is healthy him and Amendola split return duties but Edelman is easily the better PR.

Top CB? Anyone that watched last year saw that Gilmore is the best CB on the team.

"Top leading RB gone"- Aren't these words said like every 3 years , yet somehow RB keep getting plugged and played whether it be lead rushing back or dual purpose
