According to Curran they didn’t even make Solder an offer.

Doesn't mean they didn't ask his agent what he is looking for.

If the agent says $15m. And Patriots are thinking $10m. Then what is the point in making an offer?

Curran says they were’t aggressive. He didn’t say they didn’t try.

The level of capitulation in this thread is incredible, you guys would make the French in the summer of 1940 very proud!

Yup, Dwayne Allen frees up 5 mil real quick. It would be nice of Gronk to let us know what he is planning on doing.

Also , is this the year we draft a new kicker? Cutting Gost saves us 3.5 million.

Maybe not a wise move, now that Solder is gone. Allen's blocking may be needed to help out whoever gets plugged it at LT in Solder's place.

They might have restructured or cut Allen after re-signing Solder in order to make more space. Seems kinda pointless now, though.

Imagine how much easier all of this would be to stomach if we had just won that freaking Super Bowl. We’d have #6 solidifying our run as perhaps the best of any sport and there would be nothing to complain about, nothing more to chase. FFS Bill all you had to do was let Butler play and it would be so much better!

The gloom and doom going on would be increased by the usual suspects on here if they had won the SB.

Guy lost 40 pounds due to a serious illness and lost out on his entire rookie year. He is NOT going to be ready this season.

Another great pick then...

Where exactly are we spending the money again?
Serious question, i have no clue.

First, $10M is needed for rookies, player 52, player 53, the Practice Squad, IR players, and replacement players (before and after the season starts). Some of this can be had with restructures of Brady, Hogan, Gostkowski, and/or Gronk. However, these can also be kept aside in case trade opportunities develop and we need funds.

We need to sign 2 OT's, a LB and a CB. We also want to consider re-signing Burkhead, Slater and perhaps a backup QB. Also, there will be many lesser players signed after the current flurry of signings. These don't cut much, but keeping say $3M for those backups makes sense.

The offense can get a little worse next year, because it was unstoppable.

Improving the defense, especially the front seven, should be the key to improving the team as a whole.

What is that supposed to mean? Are we supposed to go to Foxboro with pitchforks and tiki torches?

Solder isn't the first big name player they've lost in the last 18 years. On the whole it's worked out ok (not every individual situation of course, just on the whole). I'm working on the assumption that they have a decent plan B.... because historically they always have. If they don't, or if the plan B appears to be a really bad choice, then I'll start being upset.

Another great pick then...
I salute fans who are able to predict injuries and disease before a player is drafted. I don't criticize any pick because he later get injured or sick.

However, some criticized Garcia because he was too small to be a solid starting LT; THAT is another matter entirely.

Trent Murphy would be a great fit. He has a long history and great chemistry with #Patriots defense standout Jordan Richards from their time at Stanford.

I'm told that the Patriots are among the three final teams (including the Bucs) in the running to land Redskins outside linebacker Trent Murphy. http://www.espn.com/espn/now?nowId=21-0765592506963333311-4 …

That is suppose to be a positive thing for singing him?

If we sign Murphy than Richards has earned his value and the reason BB has kept him may be answered.
If he doesn't sign here Richard should be cut promptly
