OK this is off topic some I understand. I never watch the CBS NFL Live but decided to turn it on today. WOW, I can't tell if this is a football show or a gambling show. Crazy. Back to listening and watching Patriots Pregame Show

Hawkins and Woodson are the starters, and if all goes according to plan, they probably play near 100% of the snaps anyway. If things go awry, one of Pettus/Schooler/Mapu has to step up into the role Dugger previously held. I'd guess it'd be Pettus.

I'm not too worried about it, since Dugger wasn't really doing anything special, and Pettus is a fine player in his own right too. Good enough third safety.

With Dugger off the game-day active roster, maybe it opens to door to using Pettus and Mapu a little more as TE coverage specialists?

That's why I mentioned Davis on Pitts.

I think that Gonzo on London and Marcus Jones on Darnell Mooney effectively takes away the Falcons passing game. Which would force the Falcons to rely on Bijon and Allegeir. I don't think their offense can do it.

Not feeling good about this game. I think today is the "trap game.".

I feel great about this game. It’s another opportunity to watch Drake Maye shred a defense, see Henderson take advantage of his first game as #1 RB, see the #5 defense in thr NFL keep growing and get W #7 and perhaps move into but 1 seed.
What’s not to feel good about?

I have reservations that Hendo is a #1 …I hope very much to be proven wrong today.

They're at full strength. Gonna be a test.

Gonzo v Drake.
Davis v. Pitts

Pats DL v. Atl O-line.

Pats Run game v. Atl Defense.
I think that the Pats WR can really take advantage of the Atl Corners and LBs.
AJ Terrell is really good.

Yeah, I feel that too. Last thing we want is to become completely one dimensional. Hoping he has his break out day today.

Watch us all be off and Jennings run for a buck fifty out of nowhere.

Pettus is 6'0" and 200 pounds. Nice for a safety but a little small to cover TEs. If Dell was really quick and fast he may overcome his size limits, but he is not especially quick or fast.

Mapu is 6'3" and 230 pounds. Let's hope it is Mapu on the TE. Mapu is still a bit of an enigma, used a lot one week and used little the next. Hopefully his size and speed can help with the outside zone defense today.

These Pats aren't a team that can have a "trap game". They're not a Buffalo or a Philadelphia or a Kansas City; they haven't established themselves yet as one of the elite teams.

Seems like expectations are a bit out of whack. Many were calling for 4 or 5 wins before the season started, but now think going to 6-3 against the 4-4 Falcons would be a "trap game"... This team is definitely ahead of schedule, but I think we probably shouldn't get overly upset or disappointed if they hit a bump in the road here or there.

Obviously, I hope they win, but I'm mostly just looking for growth and good football.

I guess any game can be a trap game if a team is complacent or overconfident, but I think Vrabel would be all over that sort of attitude. If they lose, unexpectedly in my mind, I think it'll be because their experience to this point has has been against lesser teams (for the most part) and they have to learn to kick things up a level, and that they are still not as talented, certainly not as deep, across the board as many teams. I wouldn't see a loss as that big a deal, frankly, but neither do I expect one.

Good call - in my mind Pettus was bigger, maybe he just plays bigger?

Based on size Mapu is the better tool.

Listening to 98.5... 16 minutes to go... LFG!

edit - pregame show signed off at 12:45, saying "the kickoff is next"... hopefully it's not 15 minutes of commercials

Has anyone else watched the Falcons this season? I have and they aren't very good. Patriots should take care of them today.
