I thought it was widely accepted that both those guys would be gone before our pick?
Players drop all the time and all 3 teams need a QB. Don't be shocked at the yearly draft rising QB you've never heard of get taken early.

Well that I agree with but I thought it was also widely accepted that none of these quarterbacks are ****.
Sometimes a bad young QB will save the HC/GM's job better than no QB.

We have a chance with the browns keeping myles and so far the fa qbs signed have gone to teams picking after us. Its still about 50/50 to me but hoping for the best.

It hasn't stopped teams in the past. They get so desperate they gas light themselves into thinking a QB is good because they need it.

Cam Ward could be something.
Quinn Ewers could be something a few years down the road.

That's the list.

You guys asked for it.

Carlton Davis since he's been in the NFL:

2018: 13 games 492 yards, 63 completion %, 12.6 yards per completion, 6 TD's, O INT's, 116 QB rating.
2019: 14 games 648 yards, 49 completion %, 11.2 yards per completion, 6 TD's, I NT, 80 QB rating
2020: 14 games, 855 yards, 62 completion %, 13.2 yards per completion, 5 TD's, 4 INT's, 87.6 rating
2021: 10 games, 422 yards, 57 completion %, 10.6 yards per completion, 3 TD's, 1 INT, 83.2 rating
2022: 13 games, 622 yards, 55 completion %, 12 yards per completion, 3 TD's, 1 INT, 82.8 rating
2023: 12 games, 721 yards, 61.4 completion %, 14.4 yards per completion, 4 TD's 2 INT's, 96 rating

Tampa let him go when he was a FA

His only year in Detroit:

2024: 13 games, 567 yards, 55 completion %, 13.5 yards per completion, 2 TD's, 2 INT's, 77 QB rating.

Summary: He misses at least 3-6 games per year, gives up lots of yards, yards per completion, TD's and doesn't make up for it.
Those numbers compare favorably to the majority of starting NFL corners, but those numbers are estimates because many plays, particularly in zone are a judgment call to assign responsibility

Jaxson Dart could be staring at Giants at 3.
Giving Us Hunter, Carter or a trade down with massive trade comp.

Isn’t it like that every year? And every year QB’s go early, and QB’s that no one ever heard of climb up the rankings. Jaxson Dart is starting to rise. Teams can’t help themselves.

I could legitimately see that Browns front office taking Ewers at #2.

Mekari is a role player/part time starter... but unique in he can play all five positions along the line.
Welp, he's getting a ton of love here for that, and why not. If there's one thing we've seen - to simplify - it's that to be elite on the O side of the line means winning just about every snap. To be elite on defense, if you win decisively 5 times (actually getting home on a pass rush) it's a career game. To be in the muddled middle is hard on the O-line... there are guys out there that will get beat like a drum every Sunday, and still play second string at worst... and often first string.

Something like the Philly extra beef cheesesteak line, which if it isn't a thing should be, is freaking amazing. A few other teams feel like they've got a good line, the territory we were once in (even in the visa commercial days, we tended not to judge our own guys as playing lights-out.)

Most O lines struggle sometimes... we made sure we struggled all the time last year by never deciding who played what position.

Yeah there's gotta be a few guys that Mekhari's an upgrade over. It's nice to be able to pick among positions where we put the upgrade. And here's hoping we do pick up some more upgrades. I think we're also used to seeing that despite the general JAGness implicit in most OL positions, LT famously excepted, you can't field all-JAGS then play them in revolving positions.

And for the love of God, give Drake a weapon or two, but that's assumed in any off-season rant.

Who's throwing to DK Metcalf? They don't have a single QB under contract.

No one wants to address the fact that Onwenu was fat and awful after getting paid. Another guy I’d trade of someone offered a 3 and took the contract
Bigger problems pun intended

There weren’t any available.
Cam Robinson is still out there. He's a guy we can sign and hope for a rookie to steal his job or draft Simmons and let him heal up and steal his job.
