So there hasn't been a single move at WR or OL across the league? I'm not wasting my time going back through the lists. If you want to make excuses for it then that's your choice. My choice is not to be happy about it
OK. It’s a chat page.
No need for a tantrum

My choice is not to be happy about it.

I'm good with your not being happy. It's your choice to be loudly unhappy about it and troll incessantly because of it that makes me dislike the whiny entitled douche **** you post. 'Cause unlike with most of the other whiny entitled ignorant douches, most of us know you know better but just wander in and piss on the rug out of boredom more than anything.

I think Sam honestly can't help it, you're held to a higher standard because we know you can. You just don't care, as long as you get to entertain yourself. Please keep what you're doing to get your entertainment in mind down the road, I guarantee some of the rest of us will.

How do you know that they didn’t try?

Wasn’t it reported that they offered Godwin something like $20M more than he signed for?
Your misunderstanding what I mean by try. If you went out for ice cream and there was no chocolate would you just go home or try another flavor.

One Christmas when I was a kid, I desperately wanted a G.I. Joe aircraft carrier. I don't think I ever wanted a toy as badly as that. Christmas came and went, and I didn't get my aircraft carrier. I was bummed, but being a kid, quickly moved on and had fun playing with what I did get.

Years into adulthood, I made a joke with my parents about how they never got it for me. They then explained the weeks my mom drove all over the area while I was at school trying to find it. She called pretty much every store that might have one. My dad worked late a couple times and drove to a couple places right before closing in hopes they were stocking for the next morning. (This is after working 15+ hour days) My parents even had relatives in the next state over looking for this thing.

Results don't necessarily equal effort.

But this board has taught over the last few days that it's doubtful my parents even tried looking for this toy and more than likely never even loved me.

Lmao

Nicely done.

I'm guessing in January and February you, Huckleberry and Bustamove all had plans that started with doing something/anything at WR and OL.

Thanks for leaving me off your January & February assumptions list. My plan at season's end started with a Mayo exit. My plan also includes the team addressing WR and OL, I just didn't necessarily expect them to start with it. I'll reserve my judgement a bit longer than the 6th day of FA

When I was a kid I remember wanting a Nintendo for Hanukah and my parents were successful and I got to enjoy Tecmo Football all year. #Winning

Not only would I buy the other flavor, but I would pay twice as much for it, because I desperately have to have that ice cream, no matter what. Even if it tastes like ****, pay whatever they want for it,

Fair enough I'm usually more restrained and clearly my frustrations have boiled over.

If you think my frustration and *****ing is annoying then I apologize but it doesn't change how I feel right now.

What moves on the offense should they had made
I really wanted one of Fries, Dalman, Becton, Jenkins. Fries and Dalman went for crazy money, and Jenkins is going to get a bag too, but Becton was super affordable for how well he performed.

I wonder if guys like Trystan Colon and Will Hernandez are worth a look at LG in the next wave of FA.

You're the third person to say this I don't feel like playing this game. There have been tons of WRs and OLs who have moved so far.

I'm guessing in January and February you, Huckleberry and Bustamove all had plans that started with doing something/anything at WR and OL.

I said many times before free agency that they should go defense because there wasn’t going to be anyone worth buying on offense. They apparently tampered trying to get Ronnie Stanley, and offered Godwin far more than he was worth, but are drawing the line at overpaying ****ty old players, and are willing to wait for the draft to fix what needs to be fixed. That’s smart, no matter what the children think.

Speaking for myself
Yes I wanted Jackson or Stanley and Trey Smith. Also wanted Godwin and Higgins. All of them resigned
I like Hollins as a WR3. I also like Moses for a stopgap RT
There are some mid range offense talent still out there. Especially at WR but also OG and OT
Once there worth is established I believe we will move on some
As far as LT next year. We get that in the draft
Trade at draft time for Aiyuk.

Guess I missed where Kupp went for twice as much as DK. There you finally got me to name names.

The search for that F'n aircraft carrier and the Cobra Terror Drome drove me to distraction. I smartened up and finally staked out Child World and bribed the overnight stocking crew to get them both. Man the **** we did as parents before the internet...

The 2024 number dots not include future salaries. This years number seems made up and inconsistent
Cash spending is literally what you pay out today. Cash spending is always going to be higher than cap spending.

On any contract the signing bonus hits cash spending day 1 and is deferred against the cap.
So for each player cash spending is greater that cap spending until the final year. Cash spending to date equals cap hit plus all unamortized bonus.

The 90% rule doesn’t come close to ensure teams hit the cap.

Using the Patriot as an example.
Last year the cap was 230 mill. They spent 260 mill cash.
Let’s say the cap increases 20 mill per year.
So that’s 230,250,270. Over 3 years they must spend 230+250+270=750 x90%=675 milll in CASH.

They spent 260 and were 30 mill under the cap (260 in cash equaled 200 in cap)
So they must only spend 415 the next 2 years against a cap of 520. They could only give out salary and gave no unamortized bonus and hit the cash number while being a combined 105 million under the cap. Any unamortized signing bonus would also count toward cash.
So to hit this requirement there CAP PLUS unamortized signing bonuses could be 105 less than the cap, and using the 260=200 formula from 2024 than would leave them roughly a combined 136 million under the cap but at the 90% cash requirement.

So in this case hitting that requirement exactly would mean staying under the cap by an average of 55 million per year
Great breakdown. I appreciate it because I do not understand the salary cap and cash spending as well as I would like.

See how that works? He threw a little money around and got what he wanted.

Kupp was only ever going back home or at least close to it on the west coast
His family and kids live in Oregon. One last payday but be close by family
He also is not worth half of the 15 mil/year he got
DK was not worth a 2nd and he did not want to be here
Tell us some players that were good that we were in on but cheaped out on in the end

If you are going to complain about who we didn’t get, you should be able to list who they are. Otherwise you are just *****ing

Guess you missed that he wanted to stay out west, and stayed at home and signed with Seattle. You also must have missed that Metcalf said he didn’t want to play for the Patriots. You seem to think that the Patriots can have whatever they want, simply by stomping their feet and demanding it, kind of like what you and Sam and others are doing. That’s not how reality works, and I’m actually surprised that you don’t understand that. You have no idea what these players are asking for, or what the Patriots are offering, you are simply having a tantrum because you didn’t get your way. This is a multi year rebuild, not a throw everything at the wall to win next year situation. They are doing what can be done, and are not acting like desperate fans who would sell the whole thing down the river for a couple more wins next year.

I’m sorry that they won’t win the Super Bowl next year, but that’s life. Deal with it.

Starting to have frustration set in in regard to the offense.

All nice that we’ll have a stout defense. But this feels like the exact same thing we’ve seen for 4-5 years now. No investment into receivers, none into the offensive line.

How the **** do you expect anything to change? You’re setting Drake up to fail.

Becton is a RG. That is the one position the Patriots are all set at.

Your misunderstanding what I mean by try. If you went out for ice cream and there was no chocolate would you just go home or try another flavor.
Have the Patriots gone home? Or is it possible they're still out looking for somewhere else that has chocolate ice cream?
