For sure he was. Brady was too. I don’t think anyone can reach that level of success without having some selfish personality quirk. But I will say that KRAFT has been over the top with his impugning of Belichick, and it really bounced back at him. And basically everything he says now sounds like drunken horseshit, as opposed to the drunken folksiness of the old days.
I had a conversation with a longtime Patriots fan last night who agrees 100% with what you wrote here. BUT he also repeated much of the stuff Kraft said in that series. Which tells me that Kraft has successfully impugned him. You can argue the real facts all you want, but for a significant part of the Patriot and NFL fanbase, Kraft's aspersions have stuck.

This is like politics 101. You throw mud at people and it always seems to stick.

I made the statement that I see signs, and listed those signs.

You made the statement that it isn’t happening, so you introduced the proving a negative issue.

To me the difference is I suspect and you are saying absolutely not.
Semantics. Either way other than you pointing to a comment of Mayo's taken out of context there is no reports to support your claim. I'm not saying absolutely not I'm just saying absolutely not until there is actual evidence to support it.

Not to me. The first one showed that the receiver used the ground to help him retain the catch (his hands weren't under the ball). There was a similar one that the Pats should have challenged earlier. But the refs didn't do the Pats any favours yesterday. (The PI against the 49ers that Olsen was so upset about was indeed PI -- the TV replay only showed the final half-second before the ball arrived, but the DB's interference had happened earlier. The Thornton "block in the back", however ...)

NOTE: Complaining about the refs (and the announcers) does NOT mean I think that the Pats were unlucky to lose!
I thought we should have challenged that earlier one too.

To the other plays I thought one angle made it look like a trap was possible but the reverse angle made it look it was a catch and I thought was more pretty conclusive.

The Polk one was a heck of an effort but he wasn't in.

You are confused because the Pats management is confused and has no idea what they are doing. You look at the situation and try to make sense of it, but there is no sense.

Wolf said Okorafor would start at LT. Wolf told us that Wallace could start at LT. Wolf told us the OL would be OK. Wolf and the coaches signed Brissett as our bridge QB. The is no sense to these decisions so it is confusing to try to understand the Pats decision making planning/process.
He said guards could play tackle.
That's working out *awesome*.

Do you believe they're not playing Maye because he can't be hurt or because they want to make sure he's ready when he gets in there? If it's the hurt thing, send him in. Our line is terrible and only getting worse with injuries. There's never going to be a time that he's going to be able to go in and not face serious risk. That's Patriots football right now.

If you think that it's because they want to get him prepared, then why is he Brissett's backup, ready to go in if Brissett is injured... which seems likely?

It doesn't make a lot of sense.
If he's not prepared and ready already, then they blew the pick. #3 overall.

This is after you've had 4 injuries at the position. No one plans for that.

But Jonah Williams has been injured the entire season. Eluemenor, is he really better than Onwenu at right tackle?
Yep, for example they could have signed Williams and drafted Alt…and it would have been the exact same result yesterday because both of those guys are hurt.

I’ve been watching the Oats for 49 years and Brissett is the worst starting QB we’ve ever had.

EVER.

Dude is laughing all the way to the bank.
********. No way you memory-holed Marc Wilson.

There’s a Drake Maye in every draft. Joe Alt or maybe Bowers were the right pick.
You're going to get **** on for this, but you could have taken Alt this year, and, oh, I dunno, Ewers/Beck/Ward next year. And maybe Xavier Worthy instead of Polk, or traded back and gotten another tackle to shore up the line, kick Onwenu back inside, because it's OBVIOUS he can't play tackle at this weight. Then, suddenly, you've got a mediocre offensive line at worst. Which is a VAST improvement over the turnstiles they're running out there right now.

Anytime more than 1 QB is going to be selected in the first round nowadays, it's hyped up as a generational draft class. The last one was 2021. How are those QBs doing? Literally all of them.

Kraft should have sat Mayo until he is ready.

Give him a year on the sidelines watching some other guy coach the Pats.
He's been on the sidelines watching for 5 years already (not calling plays)
Maybe another 5 would have helped
Or another celebrity internship at a healthcare company

He attempted 8 passes and got sacked twice... the results won't be better with this line.

They'll most likely be worse and could get him seriously injured.
This gets memory-holed too by so many. He actually *did* play, in garbage time, when the Jets were putting in about 50% effort. He was incredibly fortunate 2 of his passes weren't brought back to the house.

Well it wasn’t out of context, plus I referenced comments from Wolf, Covington and Van Pelt as well.

Mayo better hope Kraft hurries up and books another trip to Israel

They can schvitz together again.
Last schvitz, a sweaty Kraft emerged from the steam room, with Mayo following, calling him THUNDER
