DRAFT DAY DISCUSSION OFFICIAL 2023 Patriots Draft Day Discussion: Round 1

Is this thread going to be littered with folks checking twitter like we all could if we wanted and posting the pick 30 seconds earlier than the telecast while thinking they’re freaking Adam Schefter with their “scoop”?
I hope so

Curran also said NE definitely won't be picking a QB today.

I mean do we honestly think Tom Curran knows with any certainty what the Patriots will or won't be doing in the draft a half hour before it starts?

youre right, you do need the livetv i guess lol
LOL, yeah, had a feeling. And yes, I had HuluLive also but I'll be doing YouTube TV + Sunday ticket for the season. Basically about the same (slightly higher) on its own and then plus the Sunday ticket. Still $150 less per month than DirecTV. So glad to finally be out from underneath that.

I’m a big fan of posting the pick like 2 minutes before it’s announced and half the board freaking out. This is why I’m here.

Both those picks could be had later on.

I’d really hope for a trade down vs this.
Many analysts have said that the draft this year is very "all over the place" - the draft boards for the 32 teams don't look anything like the semi-homogenized consensus boards that we are seeing on many mock draft websites. One team may value a player top-10 that another may feel is a 2nd rounder or later. I think there will be a lot of players taken highly that people will think are huge "reaches" when in reality multiple teams probably valued those players around that spot.

It sounds like we're already apologizing for Bill's pick.

Stuff posted here in our YouTube TV Sunday Ticket thread suggest streaming can be like 1 to 2 minutes behind real time, even over the air can be like 30 seconds behind real time. Twitter is designed to be as instantaneous as possible, so it's easy for anyone tweeting from the draft to be many seconds ahead of even on-the-air TV. And of course PatsFan's server is soaking in boiling nitrogen so it will send it on nanoseconds later.

The buffer during the season is the one I'm worried about. DirecTV was basically real-time, which I follow the play-by-play during the season as I log the plays and it's way worse watching a big play happen there before you visually see it. That drove me bonkers when it happened.

Skippy and the Raiders have that many picks??

I just hope they don't trade down later in the first round, I'm too old to stay up past 9:45...
And here I am hoping they trade down into the early twenties or so - unless there's a real blue chipper (Gonzales?) sitting there. I know mock drafts aren't real life, but every one I've down where I've traded down has been FAR superior (by BGC reckoning) than staying put and picking.

"I'm going to build the best team possible, someone's gotta break Shula's record!"

LOL, Zolak steps in and backs Curran's take
