Isnt a trade essentially the current situation? Any team that wants him now can give him the contract he’s demanding and send 2 firsts to Baltimore- thats fair compensation in a hypothetical Lamar trade. I don’t really get this request
i was very close to respondNice troll bait.
Lamar is asking for a trade
Jete backup plan if the Rodgers deal falls through?….
Yes, it seems like pretty prototypical Patriots stuff. They've set many contracts to end in 2023 and a few more in 2024, and beyond that it's almost all rookies - so they are setting themselves up to be able to hold onto their own developed talent if they draft decently well. I don't think Agholor really needs replacing, Thornton was his replacement last year and the two of them kind of became redundant by end of the year. I think they either need a top-end guy to replace Parker, or just keep who they have to carry forward mostly the same group as last year and then maybe supplement with a drafted player as well.Honestly, I think the team's philosophy right now is pretty clear. Kraft has talked about how the best teams build through the draft. Groh, a guy with a background in amateur scouting, was promoted to top personnel dog. And outside of 2021, Belichick as a GM has never really gone hog wild in free agency... big splash here or there of course, but usually this is what they do: Fill the holes in the roster with low to mid-level vets who can start if it comes to that, then use the draft to stock young talent that hopefully wins the job (but doesn't HAVE to be ready to start day one).
I think their OT situation could be stronger in this regard, but they at least have three vets to compete for the spot opposite Trent Brown. CB (as you said above) is basically the same as it was last year, and the defense was pretty good. WR still needs a body (luke warm one at best) to replace Agholor, but otherwise is pretty much where it was in 2022, and same with TE.
All in all, I think they're in good position to take the best player who drops to 14, whether that be OT, WR, or CB. And given there could be 4 QB's taken before that, I'd say chances are really good that a really good talent is there at one of those positions.
Let's review some things about that off-season.Yeah at least he's still in the league with a brinks truck about to be lined up compared to the Two guys we Drafted ahead of him. What could have been but some PatsFans will say Lamar still sucks.
I thought it was rumored that Stafford was the "back-up" plan.....Jete backup plan if the Rodgers deal falls through?….
DB you should be tarred and feathered.Let's review some things about that off-season.
- McDaniels was being wooed by the Colts.
- Brady was going into the Final year of his contract.
- Patriots had James White and Rex Burkhead as their returning RBs so they were needing additional RBs.
- The Pats didn't have a LT as Solder was a FA.
Drafting Jackson would have taken away Michel. That likely would have left the Pats w/o rookie RB to carry them in the play-offs and help them win the SB that year. In fact, they may not have made the play-offs w/o Michel that year.
There is no guarantee that McDaniels would have stayed knowing that the Patriots would be moving on from Brady after 2018.
Drafting Jackson guarantees that Brady leaves in 2019. He could have easily headed to the Colts to join McDaniels. Especially with Luck retiring after the 2018 season. Or he could have gone to the Giants and been a mentor for Daniel Jones.
I'm not saying Lamar sucks. I'm saying that you have no idea how Jackson would have done in New England with Belichick and either McDaniels or a different OC (since B'OB was still HC of HOU) ad QB coach. Hell, with Patricia gone, we may have seen the Judge DISASTER at that time. Then people like yourself would be screaming bloody murder at BB having "driven away McDaniels and Brady".
Taylor Rapp to the Bills, per Schefter.
DB you should be tarred and feathered.
Too bad, I would have liked him here. But if Mills (and to a lesser extent Jon Jones) are going to be given more safety responsibilities, that room was already going to be pretty crowded. Interested to see the kind of role he fills in Buffalo since they've already re-signed Poyer. Solid safety rotation there for sure.
Why? A few posts ago you were saying Pats have everything they need : )
However we did trade a second for Sanu before so I don’t know.Until Cardinals drop that ridiculous asking price it means nothing to us.
