What capital would the Jets have left after Rodgers to even make that deal?
Good question, the jets QB situation is more dyer than ours was.. they have everything but a QB..

Hopkins has only had one year where he missed more than one game due to injury in his career. Waller has only played a full season twice in his career and missed half the season in each of the last two years. Not remotely the same.
To me it seems like Cap hit/Salary is the issue, not the player or trade comp.

Typically long-term deals are signed with team knowing they wont get good value in the back half of it.... we've now hit that point of the contract where Hopkins is an extremely effective player still but may be overvalued at 18.5m or whatever his cap hit is.

Isn't Waller supposed to be this all world TE receiver in the prime of his career, so a low 3 looks to be cheap and if the deal comes to pass it would lower the market for Hopkins, Jeudy and Cooks IMHO
He was hobbled with hamstring issues all year last year and is 11/13/15 against the cap the next three.
I am surprised by this, to be honest. Waller was a favorite there, so Josh is taking a risk. And yes, when healthy he's probably up there at the top of tier 2, behind Kelce, Kittle, and Andrews.

January 24:
McDaniels is big on ‘culture fits’ and will want his own guys. Teams will be keeping an eye on tight end Darren Waller and wide receiver Hunter Renfrow in that process.

“Own guy” (Meyers) is in
Waller is out
Renfrow has a bonus due on Friday, so we’ll know what’s happening there soon

I see.. what's wallers salary?
$11M plus $1.275M in per-game roster bonuses. A steal if 2019-2020 Waller shows up, but a guy who is hurt at age 29 and hurt again at age 30 doesn’t inspire a ton of confidence at age 31.

Thank you my Google wasn't calibrated correctly a poster recommending to do so.. lol got it.. yeah so age, injury history all played a factor to move him..

Well one less weapon for us to try to stop when we see them..
