NFL GAME DAY DISCUSSION Official 2023 Free Agency Thread

I don’t see any reason we couldn’t resign him we don’t have one superstar taking up 20 percent of the cap.

But is Uche the guy you want to give that superstar money? Someone will, but unless he makes a big leap this year, he's a two-down player, a pass rush specialist at best. I like Uche, but I'm not breaking the market for someone who isn't an every down LB. Better ways to spend that money, IMO.

They are high on unnecessarily giving away Uche in a trade? I don’t share their enthusiasm.

It's funny because they'd be the same one's next year when Judon and Barmore are schemed against and Wise is getting chipped complaining about how Pats need to get better at getting pressure acting as if they weren't for trading the best pure pass rusher on the team which then they'll complain when Uche inevitably has a 15+ sack season with Cardinals about how they don't pay their players. It's literally what happened when they traded Chandler Jones for a pick that became a supposed JAG OT/G from NC State who now has been the anchor LG of 3 SB winning OLs

Anyone wanting to trade Uche and a 3rd for Hopkins is dumb.. It's solving 1 problem by making another and you lose a potential solution to that problem giving a draft pick.

with all the cap next year we have, i don't see them getting any comp picks

Fair point. I'm still not trading him so long as the team is in contention for something. Again, if they're 3-6 at the deadline and he's on pace for another 10+ sack season, ship him off to the highest bidder.

I’d only trade him for a number 1 coming into their prime.

Higgins, Jeudy, I will lose all my faith in Bills roster decisions if he is traded for a 31 year old
Receiver.
Zappe I'm warming up to D-Hop IF it happens look at the possible line-up D-Hop - Juju and Thornton. Look a true deep threat TT a Slot in Juju and very good intermediate to deep threat in D-Hop. After that Bourne and Parker  are just gravy. We can legitimately compete with that Trio of WR's.

I remember the Jonnu interview and his quote was New England paid the best by far.
I was like OMG what did we do.
Gotta admit Jonnu was good at something cashing those very Large Game checks so glad we dumped his undeserving salary. That said I hope we make some more FA moves but if we stay Pat until the Draft I would still view it as a success getting rid of Jonno's Contract.

I know he's soon going to be 31 but D-Hop would make us a Contender in the AFC. The younger guys like Thornton and Bourne can learn from that crafty vet. I don't think any Team can beat us to him if we really want him we just have to dangle that Third Rounder. No Third Rounder can do what D-Hop could potentially do for us: a Trade and a Two year extension.

How do you figure with Mac regressing last year? Everything is dependent on him as well as the o-line, which is not-settled yet

If they get him for a third I will ecstatic. Not sure if it makes the Pats a contender, but I don't think there is a better use of their cap space and that draft pick. I also think being around a great receiver like him can only help Thornton and whoever the Pats draft this year at receiver in their development.

They have a better OL already with more Players to come via the Draft. With the recent OC and OL Coaching changes and him getting an early start on the Offseason I think Mac is going to do very well. Also they are putting playmakers around him which is what Mac needs.

One thing we know about BB he would make a move or Trade for a Established vet over a Draft pick D-Hop is such a player.

Miguel has us down to $14.55m in cap space, accounting for all the free agency activity to this point. Hopkins cap hit will be $19.45m. So if the Pats were to be in on this, they would need to make some more cap space immediately to fit him in. Alternatively, they can ask the Cardinals to do the restructuring and eat some of the cap space as part of the deal (what the Texans did with Cooks), but of course that will increase the trade compensation the Patriots will have to pay.

Don't Henry if cut saves us $10Mill? or we could extend Judon.

I don't think I'd trade Uche for Hopkins and us getting the third so that trade is a no go for me. Only way I'd consider it is if BB knew Uche wasn't going to re-sign. Pass rushers like that aren't throw ins on a trade that's crazy talk.

Yeah I think our lone third gets it done.

have their been any rumors about Uche being involved in a deal? The only place I've seen that brought up is this board.
