Official 2022 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

Brady still managed a very respectable 67% completion percentage despite breaking the record for pass attempts. No crap his running game and o-line must have sucked just seeing that stat.
Of the realistic options, I want Brady to land in Las Vegas with McDaniels. In that offense I think Brady's numbers will get back to prime form. Anyone believing Brady's numbers this season weren't adversely effected by poor coaching, injuries, no run game, down WR play, drops, and rookie TEs, have no clue.

The Oline is trash in Vegas.

Put it this way. Welker was allpro/all world player in the regular season but was down a notch or two in the playoffs. Still very good,.. but yet,.. that's why I say sort of non-clutch.

Higher catch % in the playoffs
Higher yards per game in the playoffs
Higher receptions per game in the playoffs
Higher TD/G in the playoffs
Higher 1d/G in the playoffs

Would things have been different with Arians?

That's an excellent question. My guess is that it would not have been significantly better. But, having said that, I'm without knowledge of exactly how much, if any, the offense was being restricted by Bowles this year.

And another big question is how long it would have taken Arians to say "Screw this. We're not doing X anymore".

The team was sloppy this year. That would have been less of an issue with Arians.

Also, you saw some adjustments in 2020 and 2021. This years Bucs always started off the same way pretty much every game (except Bengals game) resulting in 0, 3 or 7 points by half time.

I was floored and disappointed that they started the exact same way against Dallas. You would think a 17 game sample would have taught Leftwhich/ Bowles not to bring out the same game plan.

Wow. Hard to believe,.. some of that is getting lost to the fact they didn't win and who to blame.

So, here we are in the Official Tompa Bay thread, with some recent changes that are now in play:

a) Tampa's 2022 season is over
b) Byron Leftwich and most of the rest of the offensive staff is fired
c) Tom Brady is a free agent

Presuming we want this happy forum to move forward instead of endless bickering about the past, how can events conspire such that Tom Brady is the Tampa QB for the 2023 season?

Clearly Tampa wants to extend Tom and roll forward his cap hit, right?

How do they get Tom to decide to come back?

Does Tom get to pick the new OC?

What kind of offensive philosophy does Tampa want?

Even though the team had other chances to win that game afterwards (i.e. Branch, Hernandez with drops), Welker gets all the blame now. It's really wild how far the popular take on that game, and Welker's legacy, has shifted.

Vegas seems like the most obvious landing spot for Brady. Especially if Gronk joins in, that offense will be very good. There's some talk of Evans getting traded so maybe Vegas could work a deal there. With Adams clearly demanding attention, Evans could get some good looks on the other side of the field.

Where is the talk coming from any link?

Adams/Evans/Renfrow/Waller won’t be stopped

Tampa had a top defense playing in the weakest division in the NFL.

We just saw how they perform against a top team.
TB has a bottom of the barrel offense and an average defense. They're above average vs the pass, below average vs the run and in the middle in points against.

damn didn’t know that. don’t even know how the money would work with them needing defense but Adams and Evans out wide with Renfrow in the slot would be disgusting. according to Raiders fans both their tackles are actually solid, it’s the interior that needs improvement

Ya they can take the kid from Northwestern or OSU at 7 and solidify the line. As bad as there defense was they were in 90% for the games

Having only one outside pass rusher didn't help any. This team had moves it could have made, and passed on.

Bring back JPP
Sign a veteran for the LG spot
Sign Jason Peters
Sign Suh

The above moves, in some combination or other, could have produced more regular season wins and a better chance in the playoffs. I'm sure Licht had his reasons for not making them, but those non-moves came back to bite this team square on the ass.

And, to be fair, we all really should always keep in mind the impact of Gronk's retirement and Brate's head injury issues.

Above average against the pass, but give up four passing TDs in the playoffs (including one where they didn't even cover a guy) and got zero INTs.

I don't think so, but I'll leave that up to the readers. People making 1000 excuses for Brady aren't helping him in any way and it's annoying to read. Blame the OL, blame Evans, blame the coaches, all of which sucked, but don't let that distract the fact that prime Brady would be in the divisional round regardless and instead he was embarrassed and led the worst offense of his career.

Lmao dudes 46 where’s this nonsense for Rodgers

I've been trying to give that poster the benefit of the doubt, but

the fact that prime Brady would be in the divisional round regardless and instead he was embarrassed and led the worst offense of his career.

is about as lame as it gets, particularly given that Brady had lost in the wild card round multiple times prior to this season.
