Official 2022 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

With the Saints and Panthers both winning, tonight's game has become much more important for the Bucs. They really can't afford to blow this.
You mean tomorrow night.

But yeah, who knows with the Bucs. You'll have a guy like Otton playing great, then he dissapears for Brate. Or Bowles won't go for it at the opponents 37 yard line but will go for it on his own 25 yard line. Then you have the Leftwich running the offense and it just seems so basic and predictable. So many of the throws are tight windows throws. Then for the defense, they are pretty good but they usually collapse in the 2nd half. Plus they barely have gotten any takeaways in the last 10 games or so.

They are the opposite of a well oiled machine. When one part works great, the other breaks down.

What the Bucs have going for them are beatable opponents.

Actually, they can. Even if they lose tonight, all they need to do is beat Carolina and Atlanta and they win the division - and there's an excellent chance that all they need to do is beat Carolina since NO plays Philly next week.

But if Carolina beat TB next week they take over 1st place no matter what happens in AZ tonight.

I love your optimism Mr Crawhammer, but the Bucs are a terrible football team.
Correction. They are an inconsistent football team who are playing mostly bad but have the potential to play good. No one will be surprised if they win their next 3 games, nor will they be surprised if they lose all 3, or anything in between lol.

Edit: only Crawhammer would be surprised with anything less than 3 wins.

Brady to Miami getting oh so slightly more plausible. If Pats can beat them next week...oh boy.

Even if Miami loses to the Patriots, which is looking very possible, there is no way the Patriots are beating Buffalo. And the Jets (especially if Wilson is still at quarterback) are beating Miami. Maybe Miami falls out of the playoffs but likely that would bring in another team other than the Patriots. I'm not sure of all the permutations.

I just mean that if the Dolphins finish the season losing 6 straight then they HAVE to move on from Tua.

IF (Huge IF with that team) they beat the Murray-less Cards, they need to beat Carolina at home. That clinches the division. Winning tonight, and then losing to Carolina, leaves them having to beat Atlanta. While NO beats Carolina. Otherwise, a Panthers win over NO puts TB out.

Losing to Cards & Panthers means Carolina wins that division. TB is out.

If TB loses to Arizona, beats Carolina, then loses to Atlanta, both the Bucs & Panthers (Assuming they beat NO) would have 10 losses. At that point, it would be interesting to see who the division winner would be.

Tonight's game won't decide the division. One way or the other.

Yikes, they kept on talking about how it was a given that the Bucs will win the division but here they are playing do or die games.

I very much doubt they will. The NFL keeps changing the rules to favour marginal QBs like Tua. Eventually most teams will have running QBs to take advantage of these rules.

Embarrassing

I'm fully expecting the 3rd string QB to burn Tb once on a blitz for a TD and perhaps post a ridiculous passer rating over all unless the offense can put up 2 scores early. That's the only way this defense has ever been any good in critical situations, playing ahead. They will get blown out by Carolina next week. I can't believe the faith in them going 3-0. They are mentally weak and so everything better go smoothly or this will get ugly. Hopkins is playing?

Tristan Wirfs is active and playing tonight for Bucs vs. Cardinals after missing three games with a sprained ankle.

Julio Jones is active and will play for the Bucs tonight after missing last week’s game with a knee injury.

Vea, Smith, Dean, Perriman, Nassib inactive

So they may sit Gage who was starting to play well. They'll line up with Julio (who hasn't been horrible) and Brate and fournette out the backfield on 1st down.

Safeties Antoine Winfield and Mike Edwards are active for the Bucs in tonight’s game at Arizona.
