Official 2022 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

The bolded is where you went wrong.

Especially considering that one of the primary differences between 2021 and 2022 was the HC.
That and Gronk/AB/JPP/Suh/Cappa/Marpet/Jensen (inj)/Whitehead. Lol

Vegas seems like the most obvious landing spot for Brady. Especially if Gronk joins in, that offense will be very good. There's some talk of Evans getting traded so maybe Vegas could work a deal there. With Adams clearly demanding attention, Evans could get some good looks on the other side of the field.
Where is there talk of Evans getting traded?

Nowhere substantial. Boston Herald writer Andrew Callahan mentioned it.

"If the Patriots are inclined to wait, Mike Evans might come free in Tampa Bay, where the Bucs are presently $43.7 million over next year's cap. If the Buccaneers trade Evans after June 1, they can create $14.5 million in cap space. Evans is also entering the final year on his contract and turns 30 in August, factors that could drive his price down in addition to Tampa's tight cap sheet."

It was mentioned on the Rich Eisen Show too, I believe in an interview with Rick Stroud.

Evans is untouchable in TB and I don't mean the fake kind of untouchable Brady should of been in NE. Doesn't matter that he only runs 3 routes or what his salary is, unless he approves the trade, he's not going anywhere. People over there would rather he gets 1000 yards than they win a playoff game.

If Brady leaves then given Evans' age and contract situation and the probable state of the team for next season, Tampa Bay should definitely trade Evans. Holding onto to him for an empty 1000-yard season is a dumb reason to keep him.

Tampa will desperately hold on to him unless he personally shoots his way out.

It's not about common sense it's about loyalty and they love the guy. If he wants out they should absolutely jump on it but IMO there's 0% chance he gets traded otherwise.

Finally some honest takes in here in regards to Brady declining. This does not absolve the coaching imo. Brady still got you a few comeback wins but when it was obvious that with this OL he would not be able to carry the offense like he had the last 2 years, they should of adjusted. They kept doing the same thing over and over on both sides of the ball.

This is where I point out that the personnel limited the ability to make the needed changes. Or, to put it another way...

For all the WR talent they theoretically had, even when healthy, they didn't have a quick-open slot WR to serve as the safety valve, and you can't have your RB leaking out all the time when your guard can't block.

Many flaws were exposed this year and just shows you that you can line up and play any way you want with a good OL and a top of the league QB but otherwise you better help the offense with game planning. The fact that Fournette was the only safety valve on hot reads and pressures is sad.

No.

What it shows is the same thing we saw in 2019. And that is that, even with the best QB in NFL history, you have to have at least a baseline minimum level of talent in your OL in order for the QB to carry your team. Brady carried some poor OLs in his career. But, at some point, there cupboard is just too empty for a person to find enough food to make a dinner.

White was also that. The problem was the both were the RBs, and they didn't have any WR who could play the role.

Brady's pocket mobility declined some this season, not drastically, but some. His arm is totally fine, no measurable drop-off there. His biggest problem I think was he didn't really want to play for Tampa Bay this season, got contractually locked into it, and then quickly realized his concerns were very justified. It affected him mentally (probably along with the off-field issues as well) and you could see it in his attitude and demeanor. At this point in his career he has no patience left, which is a problem, and if he can't find a situation that he's extremely enthusiastic about then he probably should just head to the broadcast booth.
I thought his arm declined way more than his mobility. His throws were noticeably weaker to me especially when he could not step into them. He had some really bad picks due to low velocity, the Dallas red zone one being a prime example. He also looked very skitish in the pocket not wanting to take any hits. I know his line was trash but he played very fragile back there. He just didn't have that same command and presence as last year. Like I said, I think some for sure was the coaching and injuries but this season was the first time for an entire season he did not look like the same Brady to me. I really hope he goes to a better team with better coaching next year and is able to return to his prior form but at age 46 I think father time might actually be at his heels. I mean God Bless him. No QB has ever gone this long and of course I would be remiss in not mentioning that he set the NFL record for completions this year. The guy is and always will be the ultimate unicorn.

JTS and Hall aren't looking as good draft picks and Goedeke is a disaster. Licht made a lot of bad moves trying to run it back.
It doesn't take long for a team to fall back to earth when your draft picks aren't helping much or sitting on the bench(trask). Licht had a homerun in 2020 but struck out in 2021 and 2022 as those draft classes didn't help much for a win now team.

BB had a 15 year stretch of overall good drafting, then a 5year stretch of bad drafting to 2019. Then it really showed on the 2019 team when all the key players in their recent string of SBs got old.

Evans frustrated me so much this season. Brady really needed him to be locked and for most if not all of the season he was checked out. It was really depressing to watch and I could care less what Tampa does with him. I just hope Brady lands somewhere with receivers who don't fold when the going gets tough.

Yeah I saw a lot of zip on his throws
He was skittish, missed throws , and his play wasn't to his standards so he carries some blame for the offensive woes, but I don't see any physical decline

It's not the zip. It's the consistency. He could rifle throws in but his overall velocity declined noticeably to me.
