Re: Official 2007 Patriots Draft Thread

I think they'll take 91+110 and move into the second round. Then they'd have one first (Meriweather!!!), one second, one fourth, four sixth rounders, and one seventh.

I still think they plan on doing some moving around, and I think they are willing to move any of their remaining picks.

Re: Offical 2007 NFL Draft 2nd Round Discussion

40 picks so far, and none from USC. Pete must have done his best ever coaching job this year. The last few years the 1st round has been packed with Trojans.

suprised Jarrett didnt get taken in early 2 at least. i thought Raiders would but guess not

Chris Houston to Atlanta is a nice pick

According to NFL.com, they just have four players in the draft.

kalil, smith, jarrett, and sartz (lb).

Pete had a pretty young team. No wonder they are preseason #1 by a lot of pundits.

Re: Offical 2007 NFL Draft 2nd Round Discussion

Well I think BB will target BPA in round 3. Tight end is a possible target as is CB.

I think in the 4th we'll go after DeOssie and Sepulveda now that we have an extra pick. I'm a little surprised that we could only squeeze a 4th and 1st from SF.

One thing the trade down tells me, BB isn't in love with the remaining talent in the late 1st/2nd round. Sorry guys but just as I thought Poz was considered too small/unathletic to play LB for the Pats system.

Re: Offical 2007 NFL Draft 2nd Round Discussion

I can't believe people think A)San Francisco is going to be any good next year and B)This was a bad trade. That pick has a ton of value in what's going to be a better draft. It looks like several guys of note could drop, as well. Nothing to be worried about whatsoever, in my mind.

Re: Official 2007 Patriots Draft Thread

Alan Branch fell all the way to the second round....I thought he would fall, but that's actually a little more than even I thought he would fall.

colts trade

Re: Offical 2007 NFL Draft 2nd Round Discussion

The damn colts are on the board again

Re: Offical 2007 NFL Draft 2nd Round Discussion

they really wanted Griffin/Meriweather..both gone. They moved back to 36 and now selected

Kolb..wow bad pick

I'm not surprised at all. Reports have it that Miami loved Kolb and he wouldn't have made it past 40. I've seen videos of the kid, he has pocket presence and makes plays rolling out of the pocket. Beck is still a pretty good consolation prize. Miami goofed but they didn't do too bad covering up for it. How well Ginn and Quinn turns out will determine how badly they goofed.

Re: Offical 2007 NFL Draft 2nd Round Discussion

Hope they traded their 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th for this pick! Damn colts!

Re: Offical 2007 NFL Draft 2nd Round Discussion

Forget value, I think a lot of people are upset about the trade of #28 because now we have to watch talent go off of the board to teams like SD and indy who are moving up. It is more our psyche's that are hurt than anything.

Re: Offical 2007 NFL Draft 2nd Round Discussion

Tony Ugoh..good pick. athletic

Re: Offical 2007 NFL Draft 2nd Round Discussion

the pick is T Tony Ugoh

Re: Official 2007 Patriots Draft Thread

This is an important question to ask ourselves before round three: Will he compete for Geno's spot at FS, or possibly groomed for a likely Samuel departure at CB?

I see him strictly as a FS -- regardless of how BB wants to use him. If he takes on Safety or CB responsibilities in any given series -- that's where his true value lies. But he still has better Safety skills than at CB, which will make me ignore the rest of the FS crop, and instead focus on a SS candidate along with another CB, and of course the missing link position of LB. Throw in a RB, QB, TE, NT, OL -- and we're all set (head spinning).
I hate the idea of another small Safety.

Re: Offical 2007 NFL Draft 2nd Round Discussion

man..i still cant believe we moved away from Harris..Houston..WRight..Wilson. i dont approve of the trade much

SF's #1 next year offers a great opportunity to bring a much better player to us than the ones you mention above and we get an early round #4.

I happen to like the trade.

But how soon people forget that we dominated in free agency while the Colts just lost guys. We signed proven NFL players while they are replacing guys who may or may not be able to play in the NFL.

Re: Offical 2007 NFL Draft 2nd Round Discussion

Detroit. Edwards? Stanton?

Re: Offical 2007 NFL Draft 2nd Round Discussion

Anyone think we package some picks to get in this round to get Harris?
