Yeah, I'd suggest more nuance, but it's not "incredibly stupid" to wonder if CTE - a condition that is the result of physical trauma, is something that has shown over and over again to dilute, if not severely diminish, impulse control and affect aggression, in a sport that is predicated on violence and the permissive systems to exist to control that violence - has a large role in explaining an episodic breakdown of impulse control, in which an act of aggression takes place.

Calling out potential contributing factors isn't synonymous with an excuse.
