The best part is he took WVU's bowl game off to avoid injury and then went cliff diving and got hurt before the draft.

I'm not sure it's really a sign of anything at all. Many posters hate every pick the Patriots make. It's not always the same posters hating every pick, but there's always a notable contingent of fans who either flat out don't like a pick, or had someone else they prefer at that spot. The last thing I'm concerned about when it comes to Patriots draft picks is how the general fanbase feels about them.

Rex Ryan says that Harry is slow as molasses. I know its Rex, but is there a morsel of truth in there?

Well, we know he was never considered a burner. But he also only played 8 games, having come in halfway through a season. Chances are he's having to think and process a LOT, and isn't playing at his optimal game speed. If he still seems too slow by end of next year, I'll be worried, but outside of the guys that are specifically drafted FOR their speed, most receivers appear to get "faster" the more they acclimate.

He looks like a TE in some ways.

I kept looking for Harry down the seam.

The offense was doomed from day one in training camp. Even Brady knew it- he complained about it, but so subtly that I never caught onto it, until recently when someone pointed it out in an article. Wish I could remember or I would be posting a link here. I want to say it was Lazar or one of the more analytical writers.

A pick at a position where we already have some quality depth and don’t need to devote a valuable asset such as a first rounder at that spot. We could’ve gone with a guard, a receiver, a tight end, or in my opinion just about any other position than RB.

I just get nervous watching the way he runs routes. He slows down and hesitates at the top of the route and doesn’t seem to explode in and out of breaks. For a guy who lacks speed it definitely will further his ability to get separation.

Harry's 40 time is only 1/10th of a second faster than Gronk but he didn't look like 1/10th of the player Gronk was. Maybe he can learn to get open next year but I'm not holding my breath on that.

It seems like Belichick has always looked for quick feet when drafting a WR...until he took Harry.

Maybe. Give him one more season.

Maybe this season will convince Brady to start going to OTAs again.

Could the plan be to move him to TE/H Back all along?

The run plays for Harry lean in that direction. Hernandez rans plays like that too.

Bolden was our leader with 515 total return yards, but his longest was 38 yards. We had absolutely no threat of anyone returning it for more than 60+ yds, let alone an outright kick return TD.

2016 offense: WR#1 Edelman, WR#2 Amendola, WR#3 Hogan/Mitchell, Blount, Lewis, White, Gronk, Bennett.

2017 offense: WR#1 Edelman, WR#2 Cooks, WR#3 Hogan and Amendola, James White, Dion Lewis, Burkhead, Gronk

2018 offense: WR#1 Edelman post surgery, WR#2 washed up Hogan, WR#3 JAG Dorsett, WR#4 JAG Paterson, brink of retirement Gronk, James White, Burkhead, Sony Michel. The WR situation got so bad, Josh Gordon, a notoriously unreliable player became the savior.

2019 offense: WR#1 Edelman, WR#2 Gordon who hadn’t played a full season since 2013, suspended several times during those six years including his previous season with the Pats. Cut then suspended as per tradition. WR#3 JAG Dorsett/undrafted rookie Meyers/rookie Harry, no TE worth his salt, White/Burkhead/Michel

2016/2017 were so good that we lost Gronk one year and Edelman the next and we still could and should have won back to back SB’s while the offense was more or less unstoppable. Hell, both Gronk and Edelman were out against the Jaguars and Amendola and Brady got it done.

The bad roster building happened after the SB loss, when Amendola left, we didn’t get a replacement and pretended that Amendola was expendable rather than the clutchest, most dependable receiver in the second part of the dynasty. That hole has been there for two years but Gronk and the running game managed to mask it. Once Gronk left as well, the WR hole became too big to overcome.

Put Amendola in this team instead of literally anyone apart from Edelman and we’re still in the hunt this year.

You can tell the Ball washers on this thread who blame this years offensive travesty on "dems da breaks". Puh-leez. Let me repost my list from another thread:

BB never addressed TE which he's had years to do
BB hasn't drafted a great offensive skill player in well over 10+ years(ok 9!)
BB cheaps out when trying to sign skill players-see Adam Humphries, Manny Sanders etc
BB cheaps out resigning decent players who Brady has connection to- Hello Amendola, Deion
BB lets our stud LT go and has our OL completely dependent on a rookie with an injury history and who has never played the LT position
BB mistakenly drafts below NFL average RB and WR with 1st rd picks
BB drafts OL guys who are injured and/or questionable
BB drafts strange no name DB projects (in RD 2!) who no one has ever heard of
BB drafts weird Navy guys and rugby players for more "fun" projects
BB stacks defense positions 3 or 4 deep and has ex cons, mental cases, broken down geriatrics and addicts for offense
BB lets his idiot son try to run the defense
BB alienates and tries to run the greatest of all time out of town for ego reasons (and cheapness!)

BB letting his "idiot son" run the defense was an obvious mistake as evidenced by how horrible the defense was all year. Giving up the fewest points for any BB led team and leading the league in points and yards allowed is something that absolutely needs to be rectified for them to have a chance in 2020. They also gave up an unacceptable 270 yards and 14 points in a playoff loss.

We talking the same defense that got shredded by Ryan friggin Fitzpatrick to basically end the season?! Overrated and highly mediocre with losses to any good teams (KC,BAL,HOU,TEN). If the Pats weren't in the laughably weak AFCE we wouldn't have made the playoffs.
    Keep washing those balls! LMAO.

KC loss was largely due to execrable officiating. Half the team was sick in the Houston game. The D allowed 14 points to TEN

As we all know the main and glaring problem this year was the ludicrously bad OFFENSE! The defense was good. Not great. Overrated by gaudy stats against bum teams. And the list of Homers excuses is just laughable. We were sick? Bad calls?! Did the dog eat their homework too? LOL.
