"Not Worth The 4th Pick"

You might be right as Campbell seems like a great guy and a great athlete. But Membou seems like a great guy too, and I think his ceiling is higher being only 20 years old right now. With a little seasoning, Membou could be a long term RT solution at a minimum, and maybe a LT solution as well. I think LT is the most valuable. RT is the second most valuable, and OG is the least valuable, so I would stay with Membou.
That's fair and I could easily be persuaded in that direction.

To play devils advocate, I didn’t see will Johnson on the list. He’s been mentioned near the top of the draft, has a heck of a skill set, and would make for a formidable duo with CG.
I mentioned Will Johnson in a subsequent post. I acknowledged he probably should be in there but I left him out because of his injury.

Josh Simmons
bust or boom, its our best play...
Best Case: Foundational LT to protect Drake Maye for the next Decade
Worst Case/do nothing: Vederian Lowe, the Sequel

The best case so far outweighs the worse case, its a no brainer...

So yeah I'm gonna keep banging that drum...

Are you trying to trade back to get him or are so ****ed up Mr. Moon that you are just going to pull the trigger before you pass out?

Either option works

Everyone seems to be distracted by the shiny objects... Forgetting the basics of football

Partly because he didn't participate at the combine so he like Mike Green needs to put on a show at his Pro Day.

Also assuming we resign Jones than CB isn't a big need for us.

This is a phrase I keep seeing in relation to almost every prospect available at 4 outside of Carter and Hunter and it relates to positional value. A LG isn't worth the 4th pick. An undersized DT isn't worth the 4th pick. A RB, a TE, a slow WR etc. However, the phrase becomes redundant if no-one is worth the 4th pick because without the guarantee of a trade down, someone has to be taken at 4. I agree that the traditional value of the 4th pick isn't there this year. What we have to decide is who is most worth the 4th pick?

I did this on the main board but it should really be in the draft forum. I broke down the possible picks at 4 into three categories and because, following Campbell and Graham's measurements, I think things are now much less clear, I've thrown a pretty wide net.

Category One: Potential Fallers

Mason Graham - Weight, arm length and deep class
Will Campbell - Arm length and wingspan
Tet McMillan - Speed

Category Two: The High Ceiling, Low floor Prospects

Shemar Stewart - Lack of production
Mykel Williams - Ditto
Jalen Walker - Is he a tweener?
Marcus Golden - Undersized, relatively low production

Category Three: High floor, Low Relative Value

Armand Membou - RT only?
Tyler Warren - Positional value
Ashton Jeanty - Ditto
Jahdae Barron - Late riser and positional value
Jihaad Campbell - Ditto

Hopefully Carter or Hunter fall to 4 and render this thread moot. Or hopefully we get the trade down and the value proposition becomes less of an issue. However, if neither happens, I find myself leaning to category three. All are excellent prospects who might not justify a 4th overall pick in normal years (this is not a normal year) but will significantly enhance the prospects of this team and raise the floor.

So which category are you?
Regarding Mason Graham I don't think Arm Length is going be a hindrance for a Inside Player.

Will he have to sit out a year though?? I see no benefits there.

Don’t believe arm length is a problem
Weight is. He will be going up against 320-340 guards

I like Armand Membou on Trade down as long as we get a R Stanley or C Robinson in FA. Tackle situate would be Solid.

If we have to stay at 4 with no trade down
I have to not let the underwear Olympics sway me from what the tape says
Mason Graham
I am in on this kid. Intangibles count. Weight is an issue tho, but they aren't lining up to play tomorrow, either. Should be able to add weight fairly easy with proper nutrition and strength training.

His pro day will tell us a lot.

Ronnie Stanley is going to 31 this year still have plenty of thread left on those tires...Three Year contract.

right, sign him to a nice fat deal, eat the bonus dollars, and trade him next year... then live life with Josh Simmons protecting Maye's blindside for 10-12 years..

win/win

Who wouldn't want to just go along with that plan. fool proof or just rehab?

Interesting talk on a podcast I just heard. The guys that use to run The Draft Network, Kyle Crabbs and Joe Marino, mentioned they heard at the combine Kenneth Grant could go before Mason Graham.

Just passing that along. Not something I really considered though I do like Grant.

Isn't that his buddy on the same DL??

Probably has more upside than Graham. Grant is a 'planet theory' prospect, particularly if he runs sub 5.00 at 331lbs as some expect.
