Nice week, time for some facts

So the defense didn't play well the second half of last year?

You said really well my friend. The real question is how much did they benefit from the Pats offense averaging 40 points a game? How would they have performed if the Pats averaged, say, 20 points per game?

The point was to show the first half last year vs the first half this year, and then illustrate what happened thereafter. If you can't intellectually comprehend that, just push back from the keyboard and start rooting for the Jets real hard so the Patriots can lose and you can be vindicated and come back here and tell me you saw it coming.

Root for the Jets? I hate the Jets and love the Pats (and I hate statistics almost as much as I hate the Jets).

So now lets look at the team overall, compared to last years 14-2 team, since the general opinion here is that the 2011 team sucks and will be lucky to make the playoffs, maybe even to have a winning record.

Last season 6-2 219 points scored 188 points allowed
This season 5-3 222 points scored 184 points allowed.

The difference?
Last season at the end of the game with Baltimore driving for a game winning score, we stopped them (some say we were lucky) at about the 4 yard line. This year with Buffalo driving for a game winning score we werent able to.
That is the differnece between the 2011 first half and the 2010 first half that turned into a 8-0 2nd half. Yeah, I think this board is overreacting just a bit.

27
Oh, the other difference? Last year the teams we played in the first 8 games were 27-37 in their first 8 and this years opponents are 35-29 in their first 8.

That's all great, but right now this team is ZERO in plus/minus...at this point last year the Patriots were +6....are you going to explain that away? So, maybe it IS a miracle that they're even 5-3 with the way they've been playing.....

A large number of those Ints are on balls tipped of his own receivers hands to defenders that werent really even close to the play, or tipped by DL.
You simply cannot critique judgment on those type of Ints.
They were there last year, too, its simply a matter of which way the ball bounces.
The judgment issue I may agree with is that he has thrown about 4 of those when he was hit while throwing the ball misdirecting the pass, so you can argue he should have taken a sack, but thats a tough argument to make unless you want Rob Johnson as your QB.

Brady shouldn't get blamed for tipped balls????? Ridiculous. Brady is throwing passes with DL in the way. Who should be blamed?

Outside of screens and smoke plays nearly every pass gets thrown through the d-line. They are incredible athletes paid a lot of money to disrupt things and bat passes down.

A pass tipped by the DL doesn't make it a bad throw or bad choice.

What a nice week that was.

No you can take that as its a silly argument to 'take games out'.

So you can pick and choose which interception to use, but other people can't pick and choose which games to use to make their arguments?

Glad to see you back, AJ....

Cincy fans should be psyched because their QB just threw a tipped pass interception that now will not count

yup...seems Jet fan logic has taken the entire league by storm

What a nice week thinking about a big game and not having to deal with the cyber diarrhead that has been posted here all week.

On the basis of that intro alone, I wish I could give this thread negative stars.

No the question is how they played. The diversion from answering is creating a ficticious situation and pretending it would change things.

You seem ardent on disproving that the 2011 Pats are in just about the exact same position as the 2010 Pats that won the next 8 stragiht, and seem to be enjoying belittling them to prove that you should be negative about the rest of the season. It would seem you would enjoy being proven right to be negative based upon your posts.

You weren't missed. On the basis of that intro alone, I wish I could give this thread negative stars.

As one of the 'slightly' older fans here (since 1977) I have come to a certain conclusion that there are some fans who hide when the team is struggling or is bad and there are fans that stick with the team win or lose and feel the legitimate reason to criticize or compliment.

Leaving a forum because you don't want to listen to the small possibility that your team has some severe flaws is showing true colors of being a bandwagoner and when the team starts to sink they jump off.

I am sure that if the team does not rebound in talent next season, more and more 'fans' like AJ will go on a long vacation with their index fingers in both ears saying,"nanananana I can't hear you"

For every tipped pass/int that the QB didn't pump fake, he should be penalized 1/2" of hair.

As long as we go 8-0 starting with a away game at JEST coming off back to back losses we might be nearly as good as last years 14-2 team who lost the first home game in the playoffs? Does that pretty much sum it up??

That doesnt resemble what I said. I said that having tipped balls end up more frequently intercepted this year than in others has no bearing on the QBs decision making and quality of play.

Not really. Summing it up is that the Patriots first half of this season is remarkably similar to the first half of last season, which turned into a #1 seed and a home playoff game, that unfortunately did not work out.
I would be happy with that chance each season.
Or are you telling me winning the division, having a #1 seed and playing at home throughout is useless because once the Patriots had that and lost?

Yeah, I'm a bandwagon fan since 1974.
Everything uo just posted is entirely incorrect about me, and about why I stayed away from this forum this week.
See, I didn't stay away from being a Patriots fan, I stayed away from reading the ridiculous overreactions of a group of people who chose to post on this board that feel they are entitled and are perfectly willing to trash the greatest HC/QB combo of all time, for the sin of being 5-3 and tied for first place.
I have absolutely no problem discussing the strengths, weaknesses, flaws, propsects or concerns about this team right up until the point that it turns into a moronic series of comments that would appropriately be directed at the Bucs circa 1978.
I did not leave the Patriots. I left the message board, because there are a number of people who dominate it with stupid opinions that serve me no purpose other than plssing me off.
If the negaitve posters on this board were indicative of all Patriot fans that would not make me a fairweather fan, it would make me an ardent died in the wool fan who despises fair weather fans.
Sorry if you think you need to measure your fandom by your association with idiots who call themselves fans.
