I am so sick of explaining my forum name! The name is a Paul "Fitzy" Fitzgerald creation and not my own. He came up w/ "White Wes". Wes is my boy, Hernandez is my other boy. (The name has absolutely no significance what so ever. (if you are offended get over it!!! It is not my creation. I like random funny crap..... this is pretty random is it not???? Jesus ppl just leave it be. Go to Townienews.com to get more answers.

no need to explain your forum name....now if you used PinkWesWelker88 or PurpleHeadWesWelker88 then perhaps an inquiry and subsequent formal charges would ensue....:attention:

*sigh*

Cassel and Edelman were both 7th rounders, but neither was a supplemental pick.

Reiss must have seen your comment. He changed it to "... some of the solid compensatory picks from Belichick's tenure, a group including quarterback Tom Brady, receiver David Givens and running back Patrick Pass. "

He'd have had the full list if he had included Nick Kaczur and Myron Pryor.

He can be a monster. I noticed him right away against the Ravens and he was even better against the Chargers. I can't believe we got him in the 7th round.

When the ball is snapped he has body parts flying everywhere.

Looks like someone who just drank 5 cups of coffee.

It's funny that Deadrick is playing on par with Ndamukong Suh.

Suh in 6 games started: 4.5 sacks, 18 tackles
Deadrick in 3 games, 2 started: 2 sacks, 6 tackles

by the time Deadrick plays his 6th game it's possible that he has 18 tackles and 6 sacks if he continues to play well.

Uh, Uh. You have a LOT of expalining to do. Wes Welker wears #83.

It's surprising he slipped so far on draft day. He was a potential mid-round guy who could have even snuck up into round 3 from what I read.

I can't believe the shooting knocked him down that far considering he played the next week (unreal) and he was the one getting robbed.

Meanwhile, many kids who commit crimes have been drafted higher.

He's been really solid so far, really glad we got him.

You guys are my witnesses, OK??

In case anyone asks, you, I was RIGHT HERE, LONG into the night, blithering and blathering about this and that, and absolutely NOT driving down across the ole Mason Dixon to inflict gunshot flesh wounds on Robert Quinn, DaQuan Bowers, Nick Fairley, and JJ Watt!!

The patriots have had 19 compensatory picks over the years through 2009, in rounds 3 through 7. The team has hit on FOUR picks: Brady, Pass, Kaczur and Pryor. We still don't know about McKenzie.

Perhaps this is amazingly successful to some of you.

Not "amazingly," but certainly better than one could realistically hope for, especially when a lot of those are comp 6s and comp 7s, which aren't even roster locks to begin with.

I love the number 8

I could be an '88 DOB for all you know.... (but that is not it) '86 is my year

#8 is the best number and it ain't even close.

That sounds like you wrote it. No wonder you posted it and the errors in it.

1) The Pats have had more than 19 Compensatory picks Since BB got here. In fact, including Deaderick, Kade Weston, Larsen, and Robinson, they've had 26.

2) Greg Robinson-Randall - Starter at RT for the 2001 SB.. Yep, I could see how that would be a MISS

3) LeKevin Smith - He was on the roster for a few years and was adequate on the field.

4) Julian Edelman, Matt Cassel, and David Givens are also success stories from Comp Picks as Mike Reiss pointed out.

So, it's not 4 out of 19 that were successful (Brady, Kaczur, Pass and Pryor). But 9 of 22 (I'm not including the 4 from this year, yet) . That's a pretty damn good success rate.. Considering how many of those picks have been in the 6th and 7th rounds.

Was trying to get to the bottom of the compensatory picks thing but noticed in 2002, Deion Branch was selected with the 65th choice, the 33rd pick of the 2nd round. But that's not a compensatory pick. Anyone remember exactly what happened here?

Excluding Branch for the moment, here's what I counted:

23 total compensatory picks since 2000.

- 2 picks in round 3 (Kaczur, McKenzie)
- 1 pick in round 4 (Robinson-Randall)
- 3 picks in round 5
- 8 picks in round 6
- 8 picks in round 7

When evaluating comp picks, we should consider where these picks are made. Not only are the majority of picks made in the last two rounds (70%), but they are made at the end of each round. So a comp pick in round 5 is like a top of round 6 pick.

In the third round, I think we did okay with a starting tackle for many years, and McKenzie is still lingering. Robinson-Randall played a bit for us, though not having a great career.

But from rounds 5 to 7, these are late picks with low odds of developing. To say there's no impact is not true though. The following players came out of our 19 late-round picks.

- Myron Pryor
- Tom Brady
- Brandon Deaderick
- David Givens
- Patrick Pass

One could argue for Le Kevin or Kade Weston who is on IR. But those 5 are/were solid contributors on our teams, over 25% of those late-round comp picks. That's a really high rate of success for the latter part of the draft.

There have been some bad picks in there as well, no doubt. I don't think we can count any of the 5ths as successes, with Bussey, Oldenburg, and Claridge all striking out. But especially in the 7th round, they're basically first dibs on rookie free agents, and all of the names listed above were 7th rounders expect for Brady.

4) Julian Edelman, Matt Cassel, and David Givens are also success stories from Comp Picks as Mike Reiss pointed out.

As was first pointed out by ctpatsfan77, neither Edelman or Cassel was a compensatory selection.

Expansion year for the Texans. In addition to the expansion draft, they received an extra pick in rounds 2-7.
