NFL Wild Card: Lions at Saints

I'm shocked they blew that play dead. That should have been a defensive touchdown.

So far, the Lions haven't been able to capitalize on turnovers; if they can turn those extra possessions into points, then I think the Saints' run ends here. That said, I don't think that the Lions are the better team. I have full faith that Brees will turn things around and find a way to win.

because he was allowed to become a runner and wasn't defenseless.

OMG Brees got touched?!

I just find that to be a stupid rule. Once the receiver has his hands on or near the football a defensive player should be able to hit them as long as it isn't helmet to helmet.

First time Brees gets hit its a fumble.

If you call it a fumble, why blow the ******* whistle??? Lions had a chance to run it back there.

^This, big time F'up by the refs..

Refs screwed the Lions here, this is ridiculous.

missed chance by detroit...

Bad call Detroit should be up by two scores. Some suspect officiating going on.

Lions got screwed. It should have been a TD return on that fumble.

The Refs screwed the Lions. Then the Lions screwed themselves. What a fail all around..

They need to be able to have over-ruling rules when a whistle is mistakenly blown. Run that into the endzone and overturn the wrongly blown whistle. That could be the difference in the game. That's just not acceptable.

It isn't a missed chance, The lions should have scored on that fumble.

The refs never call the saints fairly at home.

Technically I think that is the rule, you can hit a defenseless receiver as long as it isn't in the neck area and above and you don't lead with your helmet, shoulder or forearm.

The problem with the rule is its very open to interpretation and is often screwed up big time. Same with the quarterback rules.

saints score now. get the ball to start the half and score again and detroit will start to unravel

damn the lions got cheated on that play. That should have been a TD.

This could be over

For those rooting for the Saints, keep in kind we have their 1st rounder next year. If they lose now, our pick will be better. Go Lions!

Really like Meachem, great catch..

Fumbles are another area where replay is poorly applied. In any non-obvious fumble/INC/Non-fumble situation, the play should be allowed to finish with the presumption on the field that the ball is live. Once the play is dead either team should be able to challenge at no cost, and with no presumption either way on the part of the reviewer.

**** the refs. This league is becoming as bad as the NBA. Too many phantom penalties, ticky tacky PI calls, and awful mistakes. As much as I love QB play, I hate the direction the league is going.

The rules need to be fixed as usually the refs are calling it on legal hits.
