Bills will be very tough to beat this year….

One thing about the Bills that is very overlooked is that the offensive and defensive lines are pretty solid, so yeah the QB is in a groove with the 2 WRs, and yes the D-backfield has 2 Pro Bowlers, but the front lines are the difference. They block and protect well and the D-line is solid in pass rush, and looks much improved against the run.

How was this team built?

2021:
1st rd. Greg Rousseau DE
2nd rd. Boogie Basham DE
3rd rd. Spencer Brown RT

2020:
2nd rd. AJ Epenesa DE

2019:
1st rd. (9th pick) Ed Oliver DT
2nd rd. (38th pick) Cody Ford RT

2018:
1st rd. (7th) Josh Allen QB
1st rd. (16th) Tremaine Edmunds ILB
3rd rd. Harrison Phillips DT

2017
1st rd: Tre White
2nd rd: Dion Dawkins

2016:
1st rd. (19th) Shaq Lawson DE

And also 2 of them not currently with the team:

2016:
2nd rd. Reggie Ragland ILB
3rd rd. Adolphus Washington DT

So, draft after draft after draft for six straight years, you focus on blocking up front, pass rush and stopping the run, you stock up those front lines impressively.

This is a lot of picks to expend on those positions, and comparatively they struck gold lower in the draft with CBs and OLBs like Milano, Taron Johnson, Dane Jackson and Benford.

About the only places they've failed over the years are at WR (Gabriel Davis is good but Zay Jones, Watkins [2 first rounders for him], Goodwin, etc. are not) and RB (I'm a bit underwhelmed by TE too).

But they spent 12 prime round picks in 6 years on OL and DL? That's a lot.

The Bills OL has been mediocre at best.

Their rushing attack doesn't scare me in the slightest. The Bills should be deserved favorites but somehow, we need to find a way to contain Allen's scrambling ability and force him into errors because he's shown he's prone to committing turnovers. That said, their DL looked nasty against the Rams.

Singletary got 6 YPC vs the Rams…

Who drafts and develops the QB?

I've read the article a number of times over the last couple of years, but for some reason your post made me rethink it. In a duh moment, it never occurred to me that the HC and GM combined would clearly be more than the QB (GM & Owner slightly more), which has certainly been the case for the Pats for the last couple of years. It would certainly explain why even with the questionable cast of characters in 2020, they were just under .500.

Who in NFL history has worn 2 hats of the 3 (HC, GM, Owner) and won a title? I have BB, Paul Brown, Halas, BWalsh, Shula, and Lombardi. I also see Vermeil in '99, MShanahan coGM Broncos, Jerrah with the Cowboys, and Al Davis with the Raiders.

Their rushing attack includes their QB, which is why they're dangerous. Josh Allen is the closest thing to a modern Cam Newton there is, only he's probably a better passer. Is he good enough of a passer to win a ring, not so far. But this year is his best opportunity, a team can't get any more talented than this one.

They're the most talented team in the league. That doesn't guarantee you a ring, you have to go out there and execute.

There's a bunch of "coaches" who also have a strong hand in personnel.

Andy Reid picks his players, I don't give a damn about titles.

The talent evaluator can be more or just as important than QB or coach. Jimmy Johnson won because of his talent evaluation. Barry Switzer was probably the worst head coach in the league in 1995 and won a Super Bowl with Jimmy's talent evaluation. Aikmen coached the offense, Darren Woodson coached the defense and they won a ring. Dallas has been a wasteland since. A team with an owner who thinks he's the GM is doomed. Al Davis chose Jamarcus Russell, it's hard to have absolute power and be objective.

Not so far? Lmao.

Probably a better passer?? Cam Newton is not in the same stratosphere.

The guy threw 9 TDs and 0 INTs in two playoff games last year. Maybe the best two game stretch in NFL playoff history. The coaches cost him a Superbowl, not him not being a good enough passer haha.

The guy is a stud, as a runner, as a mauler, as a passer. Best QB in the league.

Most of our fans are just in denial.

The guy who registered on this forum 48 hours after the BUF-NE WC game, has posted a grand total of 4 times over the past 8 months, shows up to tell us how great Josh Allen is, and says most of “our” fans are in denial.

There’s some expression about ducks … walking, quacking. There needs to be a equivalent expression about internet trolls, because the shoe fits here.

I am in the camp that BB and TB were both goats that drove the dynasty that we have enjoyed. I took a look at the seasons since TB took over the team and broke the dynasty into phases with their associated results. While teams may be able to catch lightning in a bottle and win a super bowl with a bad coach or below average QB, you need to have a good QB, effective coaching and a good roster to be competitive year over year.

Phase 1 - 2001-2005 - Developing TB, Deep roster, won 3 super bowls
Phase 2 - 2006-2012 - Elite QB, roster supplemented with free agent stars, lost 2 super bowls
Phase 3 - 2012-2019 - Elite QB, roster restocked with players like Hightower, won 3 lost 1 super bowl
Mulligan - 2020 - Bad QB, bad roster due to dead money and aging players, losing season
Phase 4 - 2021- Present - Developing QB, restocking roster via draft and free agents, ??

It was about Gronk
Exactly. You of all people would never interject anything about Brady in the main forum in completely unrelated threads. How could anyone conceive of such a notion? You are a victim.

Why do I suspect your personal photo of Josh Allen has a milk moustache?
