BB is not stupid. He is a professional and will always try his best but he knows what a winner and loser looks like. Clearly he thinks this team is a winner unless something big derails it. I do to. This teams has it. That mix of talent, hunger, focus and experience.

We simply returned the favor from last year, when the Broncos* beat us without our top 2 RBs, without arguably our best Olineman, and with our top 2 WRs playing at less than 50% with injuries that ultimately kept them out of this season's training camp. Difference being that we didn't need homefield or a fluky missed XP. Nor did we need their center to give away the snap count.

Enjoy watching another deep NE playoff run, kiddo.

Lombardi's tirade immediately after the trade about how bad the defense was and how Bill was looking to make a statement to the defense by trading Collins.

Needless to say, he was wrong.

Pumped about owning the 8-5 "defending champions" in their stadium soon after losing the greatest TE of all time to injury.

Almost as pumped as the Broncos after beating us by only 2 in Denver despite having "an offense without a starting RB and a ragtag o line."

Also pumped about making them cry and fight like little babies postgame.

ALSO pumped about sending a ******** franchise back into rebuild mode.

Glad you picked that up. I too was surprised that was left on the cutting room floor of the "Sights and Sounds" from Patriots.com. And yes, you can tell he really likes this team.

He said the trade was a statement from Bill to the defense because they were, in his opinion, atrocious at the time. He went on a huge tirade about how poorly he thought the defense was playing.

But you said the defense was "autrocious", and that has NEVER been the case. While it was true that at the time of the trade it wasn't playing to its potential (like it is now), it was never as bad as the mediots told us, and you obviously believed.

Lombardi NEVER stated Bill thought the D was autrocious.

I'd assume that the Patriots still have final say about what goes into clips.

What I would give to get access for a weekend into the NFL Films archives.. they must have like 95% unreleased footage from the sideline, post game, alternate angles.. a treasure..

Needless to say, he was wrong.

My understanding was that he was saying that the defense is underperforming and not that it was crap. I don't see how he was wrong about it. He never said it is an unfixable, fatal flaw.

More often than not, when BB really likes a team in a given year, I think they go deep in playoffs and usually win the SB
