Agreed. With Boutte dealing with the hamstring. . The guy you'd want to see get involved and start making plays Is K. Williams.. Vrabel mentioned this yesterday about how he's going to have more opportunities now.. I believe that messaging right there.. is why he didn't go after Myers or bring in any other wr of note.

Williams wins off the line of scrimmage all the time. For most rookies that is the hardest thing to do. Drake has looked his way plentiful but they can't seem to connect. I truly hope he doesn't go the way of many wr bust before him...

KW got over 30 snaps last game his most to date; we'll see if that propels him. KW is supposed to be an X Receiver.

The sense I get is that the general feeling on the board is that Cowden walks on water while Wolf needs to walk the plank for past sins.

Good question. I’m saying neither, there’s no blame to be ascribed.

Lots of factors to consider in the outcome, no willing trade partners is a big one outside control of anyone on the Patriots’ staff no matter how hard or how well they strive. So we really have no idea of who was actually available let alone what price. Determination of acceptable cost:benefit ratio is another factor, they need to decide how much bang they need to justify spending the bucks. We might differ in our choice on that, but (a) it’s their job and they’ll be judged by the results on the field (we won’t), plus (b) we have no idea of what they decided it was, just that their evaluation of the benefits (again possibly different than ours but unknown to us) fell short of justifying the cost (again, we have no idea of the actual cost required if there even was a willing trade partners).

So with all those unknowns anything we think about it is purely made up as fantasyland in our heads, not grounded in reality and thus not worth getting wrapped around the axle stewing about.

TL;DR version: don’t play the blame game, it destroys joy.

I think Josh is here for the remainder of his career barring him going after a 3rd chance at HC which who knows if he goes after.

From listening to Vrabel on weei he mentioned Cowden, stretch and Elliott do their due diligence and then bring it to his attention if there is a trade possibility.

To me that says Stretch is his gatekeeper, and holds their reins for Vrabes.

Trust me I have noticed. That said you make a good point about him being in more on Running plays: Josh needs to dial up a Play action off that. The 2026 Draft looks Very Strong @ WR and we have Tons of picks. Gotta go to that well again.

There was not a single trade yesterday that made me think…”I wish the Patriots did that”.
Added onto the fact that the Jets didn’t want to trade in the division, the Titans owner is a hag that won’t trade with Vrabel, and the Dolphins wanted a 1st for a #2 WR. The options were thin.

True. Teams sometimes cut guys at the end of the season so they have a shot to catch on with a contender as well. I don’t think this is the last time the Pats will have an opportunity to add depth this year.

I’d be fine with grabbing a WR high in 2026. One guy I loved prior to this college season is Nyck Harbor from South Carolina. He’s 6’5” 230, and runs a 4.2+ forty. That being said, he’s had a disappointing season so far, despite being tied for the team lead in catches, and leads the team in receiving yards and receiving TDs. QB LaNorris Sellers had been getting a lot of hype prior to the season, but has been even more disappointing than Harbor.

Harbor would be a ridiculous weapon for Maye, deep threat, red zone matchup nightmare. But because of his so-so season, some not HIS fault, he will probably drop in the draft, unless he runs a sub 4.3 forty.

Obviously we don't know what potential trades were on the table so it is all speculation, but it is speculation to assume there wasn't a single trade to be had that would have bolstered the depth on the roster either, especially given the cap room to add a mid tier player or two.

If the asking prices were just too high so be it. In Vrabes I trust. Just not blindly. (I'm not saying you have blind trust, btw).

Absolutely.. even when we were winning championships Jets always tended to give us some tough games.. over the years..

Meh dude ? He averages 74 catches a year. The main job of a receiver is to catch the ball. He would’ve been a great addition for the Pats, especially since system wise, he would’ve been plug and play. I would’ve gladly given up a 4th & 6th. Obviously the Pats didn’t agree.

That being said, you don’t make a trade just to make a trade. If you feel you need something and it works for you (what you give up), you should do it. There were rumors that the Pats were trying to land some players, it just didn’t happen.

I hear you, but Meyers and Diggs are redundant players.

Diggs has given more that I realistically expected this year
