NFL threatens to suspend 4 players from Al Jazeera report indefinitely if they don't interview

the nfl may actually use these 4 to show they are 'fair' . Say they cooperated and they had nothing so we did nothing and insinuate brady/pats didnt do cooperate. Thats what i am more afraid of that it will come back to how uncooperative brady was.
I've had the exact same thought. It's a great point.

In a shocking twist, the players involved have caved (except Mike Neal, who is still a free agent). Way to continue to show you're the worst union in all of sports, guys!

Players accused in Al-Jazeera America report will talk to NFL

We may have our answer. PFT confirms multiple reports, including one from Chris Mortensen of ESPN, that Steelers linebacker James Harrison, Packers linebacker Julius Peppers and Packers linebacker Clay Matthews have agreed to meet with the league. A source tells PFT that free agent linebacker Mike Neal has not agreed to an interview.

so chris mortensen reported that 3 of 4 football players deflated under pressure from the NFL?

Even Goodell isn't this stupid, but it would be pretty funny if he suspended them anyway.

These guys suck, i have no respect for James Harrison anymore after he talked a big game.

Why'd James Harrison agree to NFL request? Tells me standing up for himself and not submitting "would definitely hurt the team."

How's that different from Brady caving on the appeal to the SCOTUS?

And, to the clown who clicked <dislike> on this, what the hell is your problem?

IIRC, isn't the appeal to the Supreme Court still happening, but Brady's just agreeing not to seek a stay and to serve the suspension in the mean time?

Yes.

And reports are that the FA player could decide to sue Goodell, as he hasn't agreed to the interview.

Yeah like others said I wouldn't be surprised if they cleared all of the players as another way of twisting the knife into the Pats and Brady. It was an ugly and bitter process and I have little doubt they want to further the blow.

If they clear them it will be more about protecting Peyton than screwing the Patriots further,

The players need to start taking a page out of the league's book and start blatantly abusing loopholes. Just start taking advantage of the concussion protocols until the game is nothing but 4th stringers. They'd be idiots to give up anything for neutral arbitration.
This is why article 46 is so devastating. Goodell can claim "conduct detrimental" and squash virtually any organized protests.

Harrison speaks along your lines, while calling out Goodell:

“If it goes to a conduct detrimental [situation] it goes to the hands of that crook, I mean Roger Goodell, [and] he can do whatever he wants,” Harrison said Thursday night. “That’s just the bargaining agreement that the players signed.”

Harrison calls Goodell a “crook,” says he’d like public to see interview

The courts should be ashamed of themselves for handing down their ridiculously lazy, and sloppy, rulings. They've brought this to pass.

Interesting to me that, as far as I can determine, the owners/bosses of the teams these guys play for have been silent on this matter. Has anyone seen or heard of anything different? The Green Bay team technically, I suppose, has no single owner, but there are individuals there in positions of administrative authority and Rooney is a very influential owner in Pissburgh. I guess, once again, that when push comes to shove, the owners tow the company (read: NFL) line.

DeAngelo Williams still backing Fraudger. God I hope James Harrison gets screwed.

I think they all get suspended then appeal and they'll win the appeal. Goodell will say that he was being hard on everyone, not just the Pats. He'll dismiss the suspensions in the appeal due to lack of evidence, or "most likely not aware". It'll be another slap in face to us, just like Josh Gordon being able to be with his team during his suspension.
As I posted last week, I still think this is what will happen, as someone pointed out that the "crook", I mean Goodell will try to show he can be "fair" and to try to win back some love lol.

Edit: he may not even suspend them now that I think about it.

no need, two federal judges rules for the league, the fight is over till a new cba is bargained.

Harrison's big issue has been that Goodell wanted him to fly to NY and miss practice / training camp. Harrison got his way. The league has agreed to an interview at the Steelers' facilities.

Hard to say that they "caved" when the issue wasn't whether or not they would be interviewed, but where.

Yes, and that ruling is being appealed. That's the entire point.
