I don't get this, I thought all scoring plays are reviewed, how would down-by-contact just be ignored? So you take away challenges on scoring plays, despite the fact that something can happen pre-score that then can't be challenged, and on top of that, the team is penalized for throwing the challenge? This is insane.

Actually this happened last week too on a fumble, if a coach throws a challenge flag on a scoring play or a turnover, any review is cancelled out.

These refs should suspend themselves for 1 game at least.

I seriously don't understand why refs can't be suspended for idiocy. They alter GAMES with stupid mistakes like this.

Wait, what? They can't review the play because the HC incorrectly threw a challenge flag on a play they can't challenge? Thats ludicrous.

What's so wrong with just telling the coach "You can't challenge the play". Why the need to make it a penalty and cancel the opportunity of a scoring review. It makes no sense to me.

Well Schwartz isn't absolved of blame either. Stupid decision to throw the flag, but that still is no excuse for not being able to review that play. That's just the stupidest thing I've ever seen.
