The secondary is identical to last year at this point, swapping out Butler for Jason McCourty who may have a head start on learning the system..... It's not the secondary I'd be worried about; be worried/hopeful that Shelton and Clayborn are good fits at what they were brought in for, that Hightower and Van Noy are healthy and the team doesn't need to bring Roberts onto the field at all, that Wise can make a year 2 jump to go with T. Flowers. But as long as no one in the secondary is injured at that point, that would be the least of my concerns on defense. Gilmore was beasting in December and the playoffs.

The stats might show that McCourty played better but butler's a better corner than McCourty.

Amazing how the guy hasn't played 1 snapped with the Pats and you make this declaration. I'm sure you were one of the people who was pounding the table about how Butler was better than Gilmore and that was proved to be WRONG once Gilmore got comfortable in the defense.

So how the hell would anyone know right now in April that Jason McCourty won't come in and pick up the system well and be a noticeable upgrade over Butler

Listen McCourty struggles in man coverage. I am willing to give him a chance. We will see how he does. Hope he plays well here.

No doubt Gilmore was a Stud towards the end. Last year we only swapped out Gilmore for Ryan and had issues with communication. This year it’s mccourty for butler. Not saying a repeat will happen just worth keeping an eye on.

No, this won't do.... there's nothing here to give people in this forum a reason to complain about how much the league front office hates us and the schedule is one big anti-Patriot conspiracy

They're only giving us 10 games...how is that not a conspiracy to keep us out of the playoffs?!

I think there's a lot less to worry about this time around given that:

1) JMac has experience as a teammate of DMac, and possibly Harmon (not sure if they overlapped at Rutgers since Jason came out a year before Devin)

2) JMac has an identical twin in the secondary

Um they are being nice to us because Brady and Gronk are retiring...duh!

Both teams coming off their bye in week 12? Is that something new they're trying to do this year?
