Not really free agency, but Watson has narrowed his choices of the team he will allow the Texans to trade him to.

Another possibility for the Pats at RT.

Makes more sense than bringing back Cannon, but I'm not sure it makes more sense than bringing back Brown.

Not a fan of bringing Cannon back either. My guess is he will sign with the Pats though, for an one day contract to retire.

I just think Brown is looking to cash in again and Belichick knows that he is too much of an injury and motivation risk to give big bucks to.

RETURNING

OL James Ferentz (32) - ???
QB Brian Hoyer (36) - $4M / 2yr
FS Devin McCourty (34) - $9M / 1yr
ST Matt Slater (36) - $2.6M / 1yr

DEPARTURES

CB J.C. Jackson (27) - $82.5M / 5yr
C Ted Karras (29) - $18M / 3yr

UNSIGNED FREE AGENTS

  • ILB Ja'Whaun Bentley
  • RB Brandon Bolden
  • RT Trent Brown
  • OLB Jamie Collins
  • K Nick Folk
  • TE Troy Fumagalli
  • LB Terez Hall
  • ILB Dont'a Hightower
  • FB Jakob Johnson
  • FS Brandon King
  • ILB Harvey Langi
  • WR Jakobi Meyers (tendered)
  • WR Gunner Olszewski
  • RB James White
Only big name left is Trent Brown. Not hopeful.

Collins has had injury issues, too, which is why I'm not all in on him over Brown.

Although they can make deals all night long and teams probably will, most of the big names and even next tier guys in positions the Pats may be looking to acquire are still there. Unlike last year where most of the best free agents were gone in the first 24 hours or so.

The Pats being quiet the first day of free agency could pay off. A lot of the Pats' competition for certain positions have already found their guy even though better guys are still on the board. If the Pats intend to be players in this free agency, they may have played the market pretty well.

Not saying this is a huge deal, but I'm a bit of a Harvey Langi fan, so ...

Only in Deus world does missing 6 out of 49 games equivalent to missing 24 games out of 49...

I didn't even look at the stats when I posted. I haven't been following Collins' career. Yeah, six missed games is nothing. And the only reason the Cowboys are looking to dump Collins is because they got a guy to replace him who is much younger and cheaper.

Well if you look at it as a 2 year frontloaded deal he’s getting 20 mil AAV.
I've got to think he's got a large signing bonus to lower his cap hit.

To be fair.. I double checked and Collins missed the entirety of 2020 due to a hip injury.. So Deus was right for a change..

I think that’s the point he was making, wasn’t it?
Looked to me like he was just adding it to the list.. Despite it having been accounted for previously.
