NFL Draft Talk

Allegedly..

Yeah, I’m cool with Jeanty as long as we can shore up the OL somehow. He’s an elite talent as a pure runner, pass protector & receiver.
This is a tricky draft. After Carter and Hunter there is probably like 10 players i would be happy getting at #4.

That's why I don't think a trade down will happen.

I've been fairly well convinced it shouldn't be Tet but I still see WR as our second biggest need behind LT so I'm still sort of hoping Vrabel likes him. Plus I look more at production than draft season BS and forty times.

I'm settling on Campbell because LT is the biggest need and his production also speaks for itself but if they believe in the arm length stuff then I'm fine with any of the other top guys too.

My first preference at Tackle is Membou, but from everything I’m reading and hearing they are going to take Campbell, and I’m fine with that because he’s a really good left tackle prospect. My beliefs on Macmillan are well known.

I think it's naive to look at it like that. Referring to the tweet and not you the poster.

Eagles Oline was made up of late rd Olinemen, 1 longtime vet RT taken in the top 10 but that was 10 years prior and a failed first rd pick OT converted to RG.

If the only glaring weakness was OT than taking either Campbell or Membou would be a no brainer.

But this team is deft of elite talent and you need elite talent to win in the NFL.

Name 1 team that won the superbowl and was consistently dependent without elite talent on both sides of the ball but had a solid oline.

The winless Browns had a good oline in the late 2000's with a HOF LT and multiple probowl olinemen to pair with him.
****erson and Jurgens were both drafted in 2nd round, top 50 overall. Those could be considered premium picks.

If there are about 10 players that Vrabel would be happy getting at 4 (and they are about equal), then a trade down is MORE likely to happen.
======================
For example, we might get one of Vrabel's top 6 available, the 9th pick and a 2nd rounder.

Or we might get one of Vrabel's top 3 available, the 6th pick and a 3rd rounder.

Or, of course, maybe no one wants any of the 10 enough to move up even a couple of spots.

Or, finally, maybe Vrabel really has one of the 10 above the rest on his board, that man being Campbell.

My point is that no one player stands out that would be worth trading up for.

It takes a willing trade partner to make it happen. I just don't see any team in the 5-14 range wiling to part with extra picks when the talent level isn't that different

If it weren’t for that injury, I’d definitely take Simmons @ 4...Hell, I often think about them taking him @ 4 regardless of his current condition. That’s how naturally gifted he is.

The injury Simmons suffered is the same Strange suffered, it’s bad. God knows how long until Simmons willl be ready.

Listen, bottom line, if the they are going best player available, Jeanty is the 4th best player available and Warren is probably the 5th. But at this point, the way the line is, you have to go with best available LT, and that is Campbell.

I agree that YOU or I don't know what player is worth a 2nd, or 3rd or 4th to trade up.

My personal example is that I think it likely that LV would give an extra pick to move up for Jeantry. I suspect that there are ither such situations. WE just don't know about them.

I’d be happy with Campbell (IF Hunter & Carter are gone at 4). I think he’s gonna be really good, and he’ll play with an extra chip on his shoulder. Also, I think Marrone will coach him up.

I agree. This is a kid who is going to take to coaching and work his ass off to be great, and those are the kids you want on your roster. And the people ripping on him about arm length conveniently overlook the fact that he scored higher athletically than 99% of all tackles tested since 1987.

I want to start by saying I am a huge Campbell fan!!! The athleticism is off the charts. As a run blocker, he is a beast!!! The running backs will love him much more than anybody currently on the roster.
But the fact remains, if pass rushers with longer arms get into campbell’s chest, it is game over and the pass rusher wins. Vrabel knows this.
I believe McDaniel can scheme around a lack of talent in an offensive tackle, by giving them extra help (unlike van pelt), but I do not know how McDaniel or anybody else can scheme around a lack of arm length.
