With everyone healthy and a good draft this team will be incredible. 10-3 with this many injuries is ridiculously good.

Next Season

19-0 next year is coming. But we are gonna win the SB this year. I don't know why, but I think gronk might be back way sooner then expected.

Let's focus on the next game first.

Given the recent history of the NFL though we can count on a bunch of injuries next year as well. Hopefully not as many devastating season-ending ones to key players on both sides of the ball.

I don't mean to be rude but your over optimistic attitude is ridiculous.

Starting to get tiring to be honest

Glad to see there is still some ridiculously misplaced optimism that has continued every year since 2007. I, and every other sportsbook on the planet Earth will gladly accept any wager that you may wish to place on this occurring.

But we are gonna win the SB this year.

Hope you're right. Obviously, our chances just took an insanely dramatic turn for the worst. Unless we somehow score 30+ points every week without our best skill position player, this defense isn't going to give us many chances. The first round bye is really our only shot, so we need to hope that we can secure that in the next 3 weeks. With 2 consecutive road games @ Miami and @ Baltimore, both with capably tough defenses on their turf, we'll need to keep our fingers, toes, and anything else--crossed.

I don't know why, but I think gronk might be back way sooner then expected.

Well...the reports are that his week #1 status for September of 2014 is in serious question, which would coincide with any normal timeline for torn ACL injuries. Unless you expect to get him back for the now defunct USFL season which occurred in the summertime, I'm not sure how Gronk coming back "way sooner than expected" would make much of a difference.

The odds are that we'll spend the summer talking about PUP vs keeping him on the active roster and "only" missing 4-5 games (sound familiar?) in the beginning of the 2014 season. Otherwise, hopefully we'll get some good news in the month of July or so. Forgive my negative attitude for not caring about next season as we head into the stretch run of the playoffs. There will be plenty of time to discuss things with rose colored homer glasses throughout the dull months of the offseason.

well, Shed...Americans overly optimistic, ridiculous attitudes played a rather large part in saving YOUR country from becoming one large V-2 pothole.

a little more latitude in YOUR perspective might allay this tiring aspect you find so hard to deal with.

What can you possibly say to defend this ridiculous post?!?

Terrible thread.

What offseason moves do you guys think we should make?

I think he's just saying to be a realist and tell it like it is, rather than the constant ballwashing that occurs with comments like "19-0" etc.

No one would ever claim that being optimistic isn't the way to go, but some of the comments from a handful of mega-optimistic, candy canes and fluffy cloud posters starts to wear on people's patience.

I think AA12 is a good poster, and I'm not as much meaning to come to shed's defense as I am attempting to explain the reasoning behind his comment; nothing more.

If there is any positive to all of this, if he has a torn ACL, it should be a far more straightforward recovery than the clusterf*** that was his broken arm.

Vereen and Boyce looked good today.

step by step.

we're not dead yet.

I think things may be quite limited with the salary cap situation. We currently stand at about 4 million in room at the moment, but have a TON of our own free agents that need to be retained between now and the next 15 months (Feb 2015). Therefore, I don't think it's terribly reasonable to expect a lot of free agent moves.

Obviously, the return to health of a handful of players will go a long way, as will a decent draft. Really, those are going to be the focus--as well as attempting to retain some key players such as Talib, Edelman, etc.

Next Season

There were a bunch of guys out there who were not finishing plays.....mostly in the secondary....the pats are lucky they only have talib for this year

Yeah but who are you, or anybody else really, to call someone's attitude "ridiculously misplaced optimism" or "ball washing?"
Seriously?

I want what you're smoking.

I agree with you. Then again, I don't think any of us were terribly worried about the long term prognosis of his broken arm last year either.

As you said the good thing is that he should be able to return to health in October or so at worst, so the realistic outlook would probably be PUP. That said, we'll all be hopeful that he's able to make a sooner than expected recovery, which would set him up to (hopefully) start the season next September.

As I said, there will be plenty of time for us to discuss these things through the spring and summer as certain timelines and steps progress the way we hope they do.

We're talking Dr. "Staph Infection" Gill here.

If you really need an explanation, I'm not sure what to tell you.

Please tell me how many teams have gone 19-0 throughout history, or how many ACL tears were able to help their team in a ridiculously quick period of time?

Again....not meaning to sound negative. I explained to you that I was answering your question as to why it annoys people, nothing more. It's always good to be hopeful, but different people have patience levels that are exceeded by constant thoughts of unreasonable expectation.

Most of us try to stay in the here and now--while leaning towards cautious optimism. Not everyone agrees with the "everything will be great next year" attitude as much as you may, and that's fine since everyone has different opinions.
