MANGINA TRIES TO SHUT THE STORY DOWN:

http://www.boston.com/sports/football/patriots/reiss_pieces/2007/12/newsday_followu.html

While unwittingly admitting that he is breaking THE SAME RULE THE PATRIOTS WERE PUNISHED 750 grand and a 1st rounder for. Who cares if you have permission of the other team? He's breaking the same damn rule we were. The issue was never stealing signs, it was always the rule, and the Jets broke it, Mangina admitted it - they deserve the same punishment we do. Stupid fat rat.

In other words, you thought you had permission but perhaps you didn't?
"No, we had permission."

And they still asked you to leave?
"Yes, they did."

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA that makes a lot of sense......

Mangina is missing the point.

THEY BROKE A LEAGUE RULE. Having permission from the Patriots or ANY team they face doesn't mean they can ignore the rule.

And it further just goes to show you what a joke it is that the Patriots were fined for a rule that, according to Mangina's recent admission, is broken all the time, and taken into the hands of the coaches themselves.

Hopefully the media will have the logic and reason to actually examine this and think critically about it long enough to make some of the obvious conclusions, but what are the odds of that?

0%, unfortunately

Re: Newsday: Did the Jets spy on the Patriots, too?(Merged)

Simple if/then question to ask Jets fans:

Is filming illegal?

If "Yes", then "You cheated too"

If "No", then "then quit *****ing about the Patriots and enough with the *"

This is a nice and humorous gift, and so close to Christmas.

Re: Newsday: Did the Jets spy on the Patriots, too?(Merged)

Yup, true.

In fact, I guarantee that if we take this to 30 other message boards they'll all say "well they weren't stealing signals" even though:

A: We don't know if that is true or not

and

B: It's irrelevant since that isn't the rule

Of course the media has everyone convinced that stealing the signals was the rule, and we're just dirty cheaters.

Re: Newsday: Did the Jets spy on the Patriots, too?(Merged)

This is just making me angry over the whole spygate thing all over again.

What this ultimately boils down to is that we were not fined/punished for video taping on the field. It had nothing to do with the rule Goodell referenced. He was full of crap.

We were fined b/c we videotaped signals. Nowhere in any rule book, manual, etc. will it say stealing defensive signals is illegal, but we were fined with it. It's BS. The whole thing is total BS and it pisses me off that the general public is just too damn dumb to realize it.

Co-sign all of this. It's all one big misunderstanding and lie. People looking at the surface of an issue and using words like "cheat" and "steal" without understanding what is actually going on.

Again, I'd like to reiterate that Saint Tony Dungy employs Howard Mudd, who Jimmy Johnson has exposed as the ultimate in signal stealing. Where's the media outrage there?

Re: Newsday: Did the Jets spy on the Patriots, too?(Merged)

LOL. The thin skinned crew at Jetsinsider closed the thread on this subject. Their board would be dead these past few months without them clinging to the Patriots *** angle. Now that it's called into question they can't deal with it. I can just picture their heads exploding.

There were members of this forum chewing out those of us who pointed this out and insisting that we were being unreasonable homers. There's not even a need to leave here to find people who refused to grasp your point. The only difference between what the Patriots were doing and what everyone else was doing was real estate: Location! Location! Location!

Re: Newsday: Did the Jets spy on the Patriots, too?(Merged)

Just to clarify. In his press conference an hour ago, Mangini said that the Jets have been getting permission to tape and have been taping games this year as well as allowing visiting teams to tape games at Giants Stadium.

This would appear be an admission that videotape cheating is still going on in the NFL. The NFL regulations require that all team taping be done from a space enclosed on all sides.

Re: Newsday: Did the Jets spy on the Patriots, too?(Merged)

Who's to say the Jets weren't stealing signals as well? You never know until you review the tape. Maybe that's why they were asked to leave after they had permission to be there. (Kind of reminds me of "I voted for it before I voted against it.")

Clearly since the Jets have admitted that they illegally tape (per NFL rules) with the opposing team's permission (which those teams aren't authorized to give) there is only one solution: Demand that the Jets provide all the tapes to the NFL so the NFL can review them and determine if in fact the Jets were stealing signals.

By location, are you referring to where we were caught (as in, NYC) or where the camera physically was (sidelines)?

Re: Newsday: Did the Jets spy on the Patriots, too?(Merged)

Callers on WFAN are spinning like a top on this. Denial is not just a river in Egypt!

To be fair, the two hosts (both Jet fans) are not defending Mangini and the Jets on this.

Bumping b/c this is the most important point.

Even if they weren't it doesn't matter. As has been said before that's not what the Pats were busted for.

Also, since when is getting another teams permission sufficient grounds for violating NFL league policy? What if the Chargers gave the Rats* permission to use steroids?
