New England Patriots Roster Projection 4.0

Also have to plan out for Ryans replacement next year. I say Roberts will work best oppo Butler. Coleman in the slot with Jones taking over mideason or 1/4. It's always about the figures in NE so Ryans replacement is on the roster as of now IMO.

I agree that CB is always a position of need due to various factors (somewhat recent rule changes benefiting a passing league, players leaving in FA, rarity of talent at the position, etc) but I see no reason why they'd keep more than six.

Like I said, I'm just giving my opinion, not meaning to claim that I will be right. I obviously have no idea. I definitely think Deus is spot on in thinking that the suspensions will allow for a longer tryout period for this excellent competition. I simply think that we'll be able to keep one on the PS. Keeping 3/4 should be just fine in terms of stocking up for both now + the future.

Develin and Gaffney are not ahead of Boldin
Gaffney to PS
Dobson makes it if Amendola is on PUP
Develin is competing with Harbor for the last TE spot
I think he wins the spot unless we use 10 OL
Cooper to IR (only 9 OL)
He can come back later if needed.

Defense has 2 question marks:
5th CB (thinking LeBlanc or Roberts)
And
Either Grissom or McClellin
I'm leaning toward Grissom
You realize we gave McClellin a 3 year deal with $3.5M in guaranteed money right? He isn't getting cut and when he was healthy he played really well so I'm not even sure why you would want to.

Two receivers to keep a eye out for on the waiver wire.
Jordan Taylor Broncos looks like a Hogan clone
Robby Anderson Jets looks polished.
Neither will get cut.

True. I think we tend to overrate fringe skill position players and underrate front seven players because they're less flashy. It's likely every team has a UDFA running back they see some promise in, so Foster's probably not going to be a hot commodity, while Grissom was a third-round pick and plays on special teams.
Lewis's greatness last season fuels the Foster hype train.

Suspensions plus PUP lists can resolve most of the questions by giving several extra weeks for the tryout period. In that vein, a lot of the "close" cuts could be determined almost entirely by BB's estimation of which back-end players are more likely to get claimed. For example, does he think LeBlanc is more likely to be grabbed than Rufus Johnson, or vice versa?

With that in mind, this 53 (there are actually a couple of decisions I don't expect to happen, but I played it straight, rather than making those guesses) seems as solid a guess as any:

QB (2) J.Brissett, J.Garoppolo
RB (6) B.Bolden, J.Develin, D.Foster, J.White, T.Gaffney, L.Blount
WR (5) J.Edelman, M.Slater, K.Martin, M.Mitchell, C.Hogan
TE (3) R.Gronkowski, A.Derby, M.Bennett
C (1) D.Andrews
G (4) S.Mason, J.Thuney, J.Cooper, J.Kline
T (4) N.Solder, L.Waddle, C.Fleming, M.Cannon
DE (3) J.Sheard, T.Flowers, C.Long
DT (4) M.Brown, A.Branch, V.Valentine, A.Johnson
ILB(1) D.Hightower
OLB(5) J.Collins, B.Mingo, K.Grugier-Hill, J.Freeny, S.McClellin
CB (7) M.Butler, J.Coleman, C.Jones, D.Roberts, J.Jones, C.LeBlanc, L.Ryan
SS (3) P.Chung, J.Richards, N.Ebner
FS (2) D.McCourty, D.Harmon
ST (3) S.Gostkowski, R.Allen, J.Cardona
Suspensions (2) T. Brady, R. Ninkovich
PUP (4) D. Lewis, S. Vollmer, T. Jackson, D. Amendola
