Ndamukong Suh fined $30K

I'm actually surprised. I didn't think there was any way he could get fined for the kick simply because of the angle of his body. I thought what he would have been fined for was the later excessive takedown of Schaub after the ball was thrown.

Commissioner Roger Goodell said Tuesday night at a Lions-related charity event that the league has found it difficult to determine whether Suh intended to kick Schaub in the groin area, according to the Associated Press.

So, they can't figure out intent, but they'll fine the guy $30k, just in case. Once again, the stupidity of the NFL discipline policy is on display...

That's what I'm saying. I thought it would have been for the prolonged, twisting takedown of Schaub later in the game because intent would have been so difficult to determine. I figured Goodell would fine him for the takedown to "send a message". I guess I underestimated our esteemed leader.

His history of being a dirty a55hole on the field helped tip the scale. Too bad the intention of the kick was not more clear cut and obvious. There is nothing more I would like to see than that a55hole get suspended.

I'm not fan of Suh's tactics, personally. But history doesn't make a difference here. There wasn't clear cut intent to injure there based on the way his body was. Goodell even admitted that himself and still fined him. IMO, the NFL could have gotten away with fining the takedown, but fining him for that seems to be complete B.S.

I respectively disagree. I knew it was a dirty kick as soon as they showed the replay 2 seconds after the play was over. You could see how he added force by unlocking his knee at the right moment. It was a blind aim with hope it would hit at the right spot - he aimed correctly.

You may very well be right. But the intent isn't clear. Again, Goodell said so himself, yet still fined him. The story, IMO, is more about what a colossal moron Goodell is more than it is about a dirty play by Suh.

Since both of his legs went forward and "unlocked", you might wish to re-think your position, unless you're certain that he was also trying to kick the field in the balls.

I don't think that intent could be proven as far as a fine/suspension, but as far as common sense goes, how anyone can say this isn't intentional is beyond me. He actually extends his leg and drives it nutward.

Are you fining him for doing the exact same thing to the ground with his right leg?

You think in real time he'd be like "OH I'M FALLING SNAP KICK"

no

he's falling down

Riiiiiight. If this happened to Brady, there'd be actual torches involved.

That makes absolutely no sense. His right leg stays bent the entire time, whereas his left leg fully extends into the junk.

There's another angle of this somewhere that shows it even better. I'm still looking for it.

There was disagreement about the Suggs hit. There was disagreement about the Pollard hit. There's disagreement here. There was disagreement about the Wilfork hit. Such disagreement is nothing new.

His right leg goes forward as he flips around, just as his left does. The only thing that is a change is that the right leg hits the ground faster than the left leg hits the QB. You can look all you want, but your "common sense" is nothing more than your prejudice acting on a questionable piece of film.

You're disagreeing whether or not one leg is bent and the other is straight.

Watch the leg in the video. It does not continue downward, but goes for the groin. If he is falling in one direction, his momentum will continue to take all his body parts in that direction. He doesn't, and he has a pretty good idea where the qb is located.
