N’Keal Harry Updates.

screw Harry, where’s the Julio update thread?

If Julio ends up here I think that is the final nail in Harry's coffin.

Here are the facts: BB and the front office thought that the Harry/Meyers combo had such a bright future that they completely retooled the WR and TE positions in the offseason, and are rumored to be interested in trading for Jones. They then brought Cam back. So, instead of Homering up the thread and digging your heels in to justify opinions you’ve glued yourself to in the past about Harry, why don’t you explain why they would do such a thing if Harry has been anything but a disappointment, and who you see him taking snaps from? You can go down both the TE and WR depth charts to provide your answer on that one.

I like Meyers, seems like a good, hard working kid, runs decent routes, good hands, all that. But he feels a little bit this year like Jabar Gaffney did between 2006 and 2007. Gaffney (along with Caldwell) were the best of a bad bunch, and when they completely revamped the WR position the next year, he was the only real holdover. By the end of the year he was the #3 behind Moss and Welker, and played a decent role. Meyers probably has more upside than Gaffney, but if everything works out with the FA class AND we trade for Jones? He's at best the fifth option in the passing game.

$4,000,000 won’t last him long unless he invests it properly which, in looking at pictures of his house, car, and style, it doesn’t look like he is.

thought the same thing when I seen all that. Boy out here spending like he’s put up 2+ 1000 yard season, and is in line for a big pay day.

Harry may be a part of the trade package.

It's hard to separate satire from reality. There have been a handful of posters who truly believe the trade value on N'Keal Harry is a mid-round pick. The other day I saw one that had Julio Jones worth a 3rd round pick and N'Keal Harry worth a 5th round pick. LMFAO.

Update 1: He’s still not very good at the game of football.

Update 2: He’s just in his own world... vibin’.

What a completely clueless & useless lump this dude is...And sadly, there's still an opportunity here for him to carve a role as Outside WR #2...not that he'll seize that opportunity of course...

Gaffney was more naturally talented than Meyers is, but Meyers absolutely has a role here as Cant's safety valve, at minimum..Damiere Byrd would've still had a role here too...

And Bill never should've allowed Gaffney to sign with McD in Denver after the 2008 season...We could've used him in the 2010 POs...and the 2011 POs too...

You trade Harry not in the expectation of getting anything, but rather because his departure is its own reward at this point.

But N'Keal Harry is a special snowflake who was mentored by Edelman and blessed by Belichick and Caserio. He's worth at least one first round pick for whichever team decides to use him correctly.

The Patriots wouldn't trade N'Keal Harry for 4 first round picks

I'm astonished that someone like yourself has confused correlation and causation so badly.

Not to mention your timeline is wrong.

Cam was re-signed before the start of free agency.

Before the start of Free Agency the Pats had 3 WR healthy who had seen more than two dozen snaps.

This idea that BB shouldn't have spent money on Bourne and Agholor when they are nothing like what the Pats had on the roster is ridiculous.

Agholor is an outside receiver. Bourne is a guy who is best from the slot, more like Welker was.

Agholor is a Byrd replacement. Bourne an Edelman replacement. I would think someone who claims to have watched football for as long as you have would understand this.

One would ALSO think that you'd remember that injuries happen. Particularly when your QB hangs you out to dry the way Cam did last year.

Only a complete ##### wouldn't see that adding two WR in FA to strengthen the depth of the roster than about the actual players currently on the roster

So, quick question - who is Harry taking snaps away from in 2, 11, 12, 20, 21, and 22 personnel? These look to be the personnel groupings that we will use the most this season. Whose snaps will Harry be getting? Feel free to include the TE position group as well if you think he will make the conversion.

Yup. That’s pretty much what I thought. Like the other poster, you’re gluing yourself to a prior opinion you’ve had on the kid instead of seeing what is in front of you. The team resigned Cam. The team signed Agholor and Bourne. The team started Meyers over Harry last season down the stretch. It’s pretty clear where they thought biggest problem was on the offensive side of the ball considering they made those moves immediately. Only a complete moron would think that signing two starters to go along with a starter held over from the end of last season is for depth purposes. But you already knew that. That’s why you’re attempting to buttress your argument with the “injury insurance” take. We will revisit this soon. Maybe in as little as a few days from now.

The open question is how much is it worth to upgrade from Harry to Jones.

Or upgrade from Harry to literally any roster worthy WR in the NFL.

I would've been more optimistic about our WRs if Bill had merely re-signed Damiere Byrd to help better-balance our outside the hashes passing attack...He's familiar with the offense & with Cam, and had a modicum of success here last season, a fairly rare commodity worth trying to keep at his modest price it would've seemed...but I guess that's just me...
