My unexpected feelings about Newton.

I knew your posting style looks familiar. Are you Chris Stevenson? Aka tylawspick6 on PFT? Just curious

Anyway wouldn’t surprise me if Harry is packaged for something like a draft pick. If he is showing improvement then maybe it will be a better pick. Bill’s comments sound like he is not impressed with the passing game in general - calling out separation in particular - and I think there’s a half decent chance every one of them involved in the passing game is shown the door.

I think right now Belichick is trying to spread the responsibility out to all because all can improve. It's what he does. He's also had some bad games this year like playing zone in Houston in the first half, which was a headscratcher with a secondary that good, and a pass rush that can't get home as consistently as you'd want. Newton then sucked completely after they adjusted it, and it was another loss that shouldn't have occurred. McDaniels? Horrible playcalling at times. Absolutely atrocious. Over-analyzed and not deliberate at all which makes you play slower.

Anyway, fans like you don't know the sport as well as you think. You have this bad habit of thinking you wake up and the world is a perfect place an it just happens. Nope. It's about hard work, continuity and progress.

Seriously, are you aware there is a pandemic which affects things?

How do you factor in Covid in your intellectually deficient response? I'm curious.

What? Are you telling me there is no pandemic and companies, people's lives, etc, are not affected?

Completely disagree. Brady threw to whoever he trusted game time. You have to earn his trust during practice. Plenty of players did it. Some didn't. Pretty simple. Or you could just take a heaping hot take dump on the guy who delivered us six championships and twenty years of superior play which seems to be the latest path of certain ingrates.

Brady skipped OTAs, 2 years in a row the only QB to ever do it. So, don't talk to any Pats diehard about trust and practice. It's the same guy who instead spent time making Facebook docs and cookbooks instead of working with teammates. He also said OTAs were vital to teambuilding back in 2013. That's the pickle he has himself in, as we see down in Tampa picking an offensive system that got Big Ben, Luck or Palmer killed. Whopps!

Pretty simple.

Talk to Giselle. Even his passive aggressive antics on Facebook, enabling Amendola, Gronk, and Butler for greed and ego, was disgusting, enabled by Giselle, confirmed by Mike Reiss.

Ohh,..Poor Tommy. Such a victim of his environment.

Every time I see this thread title I think, "the love that dares not speak its name"

I never can respect Cam as a person because he is a poor role model as a father, an early interview this year he had to be reminded he had 7 kids not 5. Cam came to work hard as a Patriot and left his current family home but do not think that is fair to a 2 year old son wondering why his daddy is missing.

Men all around the world have to sacrifice to provide for their families. You don't respect Cam because he had to travel for a job to make money for his family?

Did you just cite Madden rankings for your argument?

Madden rankings arent an exact science but there is a lot of data that is put into them and players all pay attention to them when they're released

The Madden ratings are just yet another metric to show how atrocious our offensive talent is

I haven't bought or played Madden in quite some time, but I do find it funny that there are some (probably boomers or older folks) who laugh at the whole idea of Madden. If you actually played the game to any level of detail, it has quite a bit of depth and intricacies in it related to football Xs and Os

You can learn a lot by playing Madden. The people who still view video games etc as little kids entertainment are going to be left behind in the future. They're starting to use virtual reality and other gaming technology now to train doctors, surgeons, pilots, etc

Wont even have macho soldiers in the future, its going to be nerds with big, thick glasses that are dominating battle fields

Gamers will rule the earth

I'm sure Cam is a good guy, but he's just not accurate enough. We don't have any elite receiving options so ball placement is supremely important and Cam just doesn't have it.

Listen , he’s been a great teammate.... they love him....I think he’s been a decent leader too especially having to follow TFB... I, like most fans, was really pulling for him to be ultra successful here.... but unfortunately his skills have eroded, and the 31 teams that passed on him were right! His throwing mechanics are way off due to extensive shoulder injuries (from all reports)....leaving him struggling very often to make basic throws....his mental focus and confidence as result of lack of physical ability....obviously not there (resulting in freq INT, batted down balls, and balls thrown in dirt etc)....He unfortunately just doesn’t have IT anymore....and unfortunately he can’t even take off running that much like he used to due to foot injuries.....I feel bad for Cam....really wish he could have “reinvented” himself here and flourished....but he just doesn’t have it anymore.....I really would love to see Stid rest of the way and for all of us (and most importantly coaching staff) to see if he has anything positive where he could be our starting QB ....or if he isn’t going to make it and be our guy....we can move on to Draft or FA next year to determine who WILL be our starting QB next season!!!!! Best of luck to Cam for future

Im still rooting for Cam, hes an easy guy to root for and ive been impressed with his maturity and the way he's dealt with adversity this year

I would only want to see Stidham come in and play if they really believe that Stidham has a future here as a starter. Otherwise, id rather they extend Cam 1-2 years and keep working with him to try and make this work, while also drafting and signing some actual ****ing NFL talent on offense for him. Use that 2 year deal as a bridge contract to draft and groom a real QB

Otherwise, we have to go with another veteran.. the only way you go with a rookie QB is if you can get a really good one with a lot of upside.. if you go for 3rd round QBs and invest 2-3 years into them only to find out they arent the answer, you're just starting back over again and again and again

Id rather work with a veteran until they're sure they've identified a young prospect to groom and taken over

I honestly think the person is serious.

I guarantee there is more data analytics and intelligence that goes into those Madden ratings than you could ever dream of matching

Two years ago was a championship year.

One year ago was the beginning of the BB and TB divorce due to factors discussed ad nauseam.

You're more of an ungrateful sniveling pink hat than a die hard.

But don't worry you'll quickly make friends with a couple of resident trolls with similar views.

Fair enough. I just have never liked him because he's immature, ****y and in our case, has a ton of miles on him after showing poor mechanics his whole career. We really need a cerebral QB in here. I agreed with Boomer Esiason at the time..He's not a fit, IMO. I think this public gushing of Newton is honestly a way to show Stidham that a QB needs to be a leader and lead the way by working harder than everyone else, and I commend Newton for doing that and trying. I just think the results are pathetically bad.

Wha???

Cam has been very mature and humble throughout this entire year, despite the adversity and tough times... not fair to label him as immature

I feel the same way. I wonder what Cam would have looked like with a preseason etc.. But I also think that there's still something wrong with his shoulder. But yes I have enjoyed having him with the team.

I've never seen such unadulterated praise for a NFL player based on his character without ANY skill or production on the field.
Everyone parrots the stupid media - if this guy is "a good person" and he's a leader and he's charismatic and the team likes him... then how dare we doubt his role on the field!?! When has that ever been the case in Boston, or any sports world? How can so many idiots not be able to discern the difference between being a good person and being good at their specific job? We all agree Cam has been a great guy, an endearing character, motivating leader, etc... But, he's been a historically bad starting QB! End of discussion.

Isn't it weird? I think there is an element of deception here by BB. With the pandemic, he's just bumping along knowing this is not going to work without being allowed to work this offseason, so to speak. So, everything he'd normally be doing to prep for a season, he doesn't like not having access to. It's all over his face during the press conferences behind the mask. Everyone has to deal with it, and it's not an excuse, but it's reality.

Mike Reiss is the worst fanboy there is. Read his articles....They're all veiled anti-BB pieces and pro-Brady pieces. We're rebuilding. Everyone with half a brain knows it and we're in the middle of a freaking pandemic. It couldn't be any more strange and for a guy like BB who feeds off of process, baby steps, building, etc, he can't really do his thing this year.

So, Newton, and to be fair, good on him for being a good guy, leader, working hard, etc, is being propped up by BB to show Stidham what it's going to take. I have no issue with this part.

Because Brady was a VERY bad teammate last year.

LOL

He would look like he looks now. You wonder about Cam in preseason but no the lone back up last year who broke Brady's and JimmyGs preseason records?

Explain that one, please.

Wouldn't you want to see Stidham LOOK BETTER than last preseason along with Harry, Meyers, Olezceswski, etc? Are you a Pats fan or a Brady fan only?

Yes, showing up opponents and not jumping on a fumble in a SB to help his team is very mature. Do you honestly believe a coddle and entitled player like that is what BB really wants?

The guy was paid to go to Auburn and coddled in Carolina. Ask any Panthers about Newton. Seriously. They'll tell ya. This is a Josh McDaniels want, and BB did sign off on it out of pandemic desperation. Nothing more, nothing less.

Good lord, Pats fans have been mocking this low IQ run based QBs in the league for years. They're not sustainable QBs. I am not saying he wasn't sold in his prime, but he's past 30 and his body is breaking down and Joshy thinks he can save him. He can't.

No, I am just an honest adult who knows the sport like BB does. I am very grateful for BB. He's taken heat since the day he got here and steered the ship through some of these nasty media-infested waters, roping up brainwashed people like you.

Wow.

Seek help. It's ok. I can get better. What's next, Skip Bayless and Tony Mazz know football well? haha

We didn't have any elite receiving options from 2001-2004 either. What's sad is, the league is set up for offense. That's how bad he is.

Cool so keep Stidham around as our preseason QB for our preseason Super Bowl - then use a QB that is good enough to play in the regular season cause he isn't.
