Madden '21 player overall:

But, but, but, Cam, play better! Throw better Cam! Cam why can't you pass?

Those criticizing Cam .. are you serious? The Pats have not one receiver or TE that defenses have to game plan for ..

Bill knows this, its why Cam is still the starter, if Cam had a TE or WR worth a damn he'd be throwing for 300 yards regular.

Just look at the Madden '21 overalls of Patriots WR and TE again .. its absolutely pitiful.

You can't fairly judge Cam as a passer with this trash.
Did you just cite Madden rankings for your argument?

So I have been on record as wanting to see Stidham moving forward...and I also don't believe Cam is "the guy" for next year. His game just isn't what it was, and we don't have the skill position talent to help him out.

BUT...

Reading the exchange today between Wiggins and Cam I admit to having a lot of respect for him. He shut down any talk of Josh being an issue pretty hard and kept it in-house.

Makes me honestly wish he WAS a better on-field talent because the leadership piece seems to be there.

Sure...he marches to his own drum, but clearly the guy is a leader and I respect the way he has handled himself.
Listen , he’s been a great teammate.... they love him....I think he’s been a decent leader too especially having to follow TFB... I, like most fans, was really pulling for him to be ultra successful here.... but unfortunately his skills have eroded, and the 31 teams that passed on him were right! His throwing mechanics are way off due to extensive shoulder injuries (from all reports)....leaving him struggling very often to make basic throws....his mental focus and confidence as result of lack of physical ability....obviously not there (resulting in freq INT, batted down balls, and balls thrown in dirt etc)....He unfortunately just doesn’t have IT anymore....and unfortunately he can’t even take off running that much like he used to due to foot injuries.....I feel bad for Cam....really wish he could have “reinvented” himself here and flourished....but he just doesn’t have it anymore.....I really would love to see Stid rest of the way and for all of us (and most importantly coaching staff) to see if he has anything positive where he could be our starting QB ....or if he isn’t going to make it and be our guy....we can move on to Draft or FA next year to determine who WILL be our starting QB next season!!!!! Best of luck to Cam for future

I’m sorry Byrd and Meyers have been phenomenal....Harry hasn’t been what we all wanted but he’s made some plays....I honestly don’t feel like in Cams case that the WR are holding Cam back.....Cam’s current declining physical condition due to injuries, and mental confidence/focus....are what are holding him back .....

I really hope Cam's experience in the system this year and an off-season to recover from ailments will allow him to flourish with this team next year. I am sure he will be cheap and we will be able to field a former MVP while still having a crap ton of money available to bring in some serious talent. Obviously at this point it seems like a long shot, but the coaching staff sees and knows things that we don't. I'm hoping they see potential for Cam and have knowledge of correctable problems with him that will make my scenario play out.

I think Cam is a heck of a guy and I wish it was working out better for the team, and for him... just not sure he has "it"

Not out of the question at all they keep Cam on a short term prove it again deal and put a better team around him with a more stable offseason. All the more reason why Bill has declared him the starter. Still should draft a QB in 2021 though.

I think the injury excuses don't hold water. If his shoulder is so bad how is it that he has the second highest completion % of his career with scrubs for WRs and no TEs?

I feel worse for Pats fans than for Cam after seeing how close the team came to the playoffs.

You honestly think he deserves to be back? Wow. I couldn't disagree more. He's an old QB for his style, he doesn't fit the system at all, and he's not worth any kind of a raise anyway. Next, we lost a 3rd rd pick due to Goodell cheating again, so he cost us a draft pick for this little cute Joshy experiment, which pisses me off.

Let's get these 3 games over with without any serious injuries, shut Edelman down, and let's regroup for next year, which should be significantly better without Covid19 ruining everything.

But, Newton best not be here.

It's stunning to me to see Stidham shred Brady and JimmyGs preseseason records and act like there is nothing there due to a pandemic. The world is upside down, apparently. It's understood, but good lord, what are people seeing in Newton?

I guess I wasn't clear enough. Let me try again, because sometimes I don't express myself clearly enough when I write things out.
I hope he signs a cheap deal (i.e. easy to cut if needed) and I hope he turns out to be a great QB for NE.
I also think it is a longshot, but because I am a Pats fan and have enjoyed the powerful running by Cam (at times), I would like to see another year of that aspect of his game. But he absolutely needs to improve with his passing game.

I also agree with you that it will be important to bring in more QB options, including a young draft pick if the right guy is available in the draft.

Fair enough. I just have never liked him because he's immature, ****y and in our case, has a ton of miles on him after showing poor mechanics his whole career. We really need a cerebral QB in here. I agreed with Boomer Esiason at the time..He's not a fit, IMO. I think this public gushing of Newton is honestly a way to show Stidham that a QB needs to be a leader and lead the way by working harder than everyone else, and I commend Newton for doing that and trying. I just think the results are pathetically bad.

Well to be fair it does feel like BB must have been using the same Madden rankings for playing Harry ahead of Meyers
I'll say this again...I am seeing improvement with Harry. When your GOAT QB is a jerk to the rookies like he was last year, that's completely unfair to Harry and Meyers, so this is almost like a rookie year for both Harry and Meyers. It's ok to admit it. Brady was a jerk. Many of the players asked BB to not have him back this year and said "we're not going through that again".

Diva Brady is as much the issue of the delayed development of those guys as much as Harry's injury was.

I do love having Cam but I think there's something wrong with his arm/shoulder. But I do wonder what Cam and the team would have looked like with a full season of preparation. I'll have no problems if BB brings him back but as of right now I think Cam is done being a starter.

Completely disagree. Brady threw to whoever he trusted game time. You have to earn his trust during practice. Plenty of players did it. Some didn't. Pretty simple. Or you could just take a heaping hot take dump on the guy who delivered us six championships and twenty years of superior play which seems to be the latest path of certain ingrates.

How do you factor in Covid in your intellectually deficient response? I'm curious.

I knew your posting style looks familiar. Are you Chris Stevenson? Aka tylawspick6 on PFT? Just curious

Anyway wouldn’t surprise me if Harry is packaged for something like a draft pick. If he is showing improvement then maybe it will be a better pick. Bill’s comments sound like he is not impressed with the passing game in general - calling out separation in particular - and I think there’s a half decent chance every one of them involved in the passing game is shown the door.

Stidham already had the chance to show he had those attributes. Didn’t happen. Now the team seems to have soured on him.

When?

Brady practiced with the 1s last year because, you know, it's his team and offense, there was no real camp this year, no OTAs and no preseason games. Have you been in a coma? The last we heard in December last year when BB clearly wanted to see what kind of growth he had with him, Stidham was shredding the #1 D with the 1s and we didn't even have good 1s last year. It's a tick better this year, but why you can't understand this is bizarre.

Denying the pandemic and what it means for working humans is also bizarre. Tell the board how BB is supposed to judge Stidham over Zoom during a pandemic:
