I know I may be viewed as a negative guy here, but I actually have a positive spin to last night's game. Now keep in mind, I hate losing, but...........
.) It did allow the Pats to play different situational football. It seems they've been front running the last two months. They really haven't had to sweat any game since October 15th. Even though they didn't come up with the 'W', I'm hoping they learned a lot about themselves in 'catch up' mode. (Yes, I realize the 2016 squad didn't need to practice 'catch up' mode in order to successfully execute in the Super Bowl)
.) When all is said and done I think we'll find this game was meaningless to the final standings. The PIT-NE matchup will probably be the deciding factor, which brings me to my third point.....
.) The Pats will be ultra-focused on the PIT game and erasing the embarrasment of the Dolphins game.
.) An elaboration of the first point, but I felt the defense did pretty well in the fourth quarter. They were the unit that was supposed to struggle. A common theory was that the defense has succeeded the past two months b/c the offense's success made the other teams one demensional. Well, I thought the defense made some big plays in the fourth even with the entire playbook on the table for the Dolphins.
.) With this loss I see it as a good team having a stinker.........and not being a sign of lingering issues.
