I know I may be viewed as a negative guy here, but I actually have a positive spin to last night's game. Now keep in mind, I hate losing, but...........

1.) It did allow the Pats to play different situational football. It seems they've been front running the last two months. They really haven't had to sweat any game since October 15th. Even though they didn't come up with the 'W', I'm hoping they learned a lot about themselves in 'catch up' mode. (Yes, I realize the 2016 squad didn't need to practice 'catch up' mode in order to successfully execute in the Super Bowl)

2.) When all is said and done I think we'll find this game was meaningless to the final standings. The PIT-NE matchup will probably be the deciding factor, which brings me to my third point.....

3.) The Pats will be ultra-focused on the PIT game and erasing the embarrasment of the Dolphins game.

4.) An elaboration of the first point, but I felt the defense did pretty well in the fourth quarter. They were the unit that was supposed to struggle. A common theory was that the defense has succeeded the past two months b/c the offense's success made the other teams one demensional. Well, I thought the defense made some big plays in the fourth even with the entire playbook on the table for the Dolphins.

5.) With this loss I see it as a good team having a stinker.........and not being a sign of lingering issues.

When they scored that second TD (game was already sort of out-of-hand), BB went out of his way to congratulate the offense. Kind of reminded me of how he talked about the second half of the KC game in 2014 where he said that he was encouraged by how the team kept competing in the second half.

Good point, sort of a 'way to keep battling' pat on the back

I agree with this. I think the Pats fought till the end. They did not get the win but they fought. I was pleased with the D as well. When DH made his speech, I think they all responded and came through. Sure it could have been better but it was good to see.

The positive is that it gives B.B. many teaching opportunities at a very good time. This team will be dialed in on Sunday.
Teams can develop a sense of invincibility which always gets shoved to their ass abs I see signs of it. The worst games this teams plays are the night games, center of attention. I’m sure gruden and crew spent the week telling them how awesome they are, and to some degree I think that affects their prep and focus.
Of course when Brady is sitting out half the practices the offense can quickly get out of sync. Add hogan who hasn’t played in a month and take away Gronk and its an impact.
Offense is 11 players working together and practicing throughout the week to prepare. Take that away and struggling can happen.

It will be interesting to see if Brady misses practices this week - I bet not.

I've pulled my head out of the sand just long enough to declare: BB lost this game on purpose on purpose. And McDaniels got his game plan at KMart at KMart.
BB:
Evil genius
3D chess master
Learning opportunity

Yeah yeah....on purpose..yeah....that's the ticket.
I said it
I'm running with it
I'm stickin by it
I think Cooks was in on it
And Butler too
And if anyone tries to change my mind, wait till after the Steelers game when I might just reprint this weeks declaration
Back to my sand now. Very quiet very quiet

Damn...I miss being able to drink on Tuesdays.

The negative is the Pats have never lost in Miami in December and gone to the Super Bowl.

And they have never won in Pittsburg.

They were sort of figuring out what was going on towards end, but too little too late. Maybe if the game was 3 minutes longer the outcome would've been different. But that's not how football works.

I would feel dirty losing to jay cutler the next day. I hope this team has a laser like focus this week. It all comes down to this game now.

Uh, WTF you talking about Willis?
2004, Pats lost to Pitt in Pitt and lost to Phins in Miami in December. Then beat Pitt in Pitt to win AFCCG and went to superbowl....
