My mock using a simulator

I love Sweat and Leggette. I would've taken McCarthy over Daniels.
I was prepared to do that, never thought Daniels would drop. Same on the last one I did. I opted for Alt who dropped to 8 and then every time I have done it, Nix has been there at 34, so I was confident I got a great OT and then I got a guy that may just be there when they pick for real at 34.

I traded back to 8 and still got Daniels. I would have taken McCarthy there, so that was a bonus. I couldn't resist Sweat at 43, and still got Legette at 68 that I was happy about. If they had this draft, I would be beyond happy.
i wouldn't be mad at that for sure.

Williams at 9 and MHJ at 10? This site isn’t realistic enough

That only happens once in a while on Mock Draft Database… One time I traded-down to 18 and Caleb Williams was STILL available…

I do agree however that their trade offers are sometimes too generous, although for the very Same pick other teams’ offers can be too stingy…

Maybe I just can not find a good realistic one

PFN and DraftBuzz have more realistic trade scenarios, though MockDraftDatabase does have the more up-to-date player rankings…

I was messing around with one of the mock simulators and was offered the 11 and 23 picks for 3 and wanted to see how it played out. Honestly, I don't hate this and would be pumped if we had a draft similar to this. What do you folks think of this draft?

Walter Rouse at 136? I was hoping to take him another round later, but he does look the part, so you might be right there… And unlike Jordan Morgan, his arm length is not a liability.

No trades. Wanted a 2nd OT but like Fiske and Smith as added beef up front more. Not going to ignore defense if the value is there. Fiske has the best motor in the draft and Smith is the mountain that rides. Why two more DT’s? Insurance for Barmore. But mainly, disruption. Think TB vs KC superbowl. Your team will always be in games if it pans out. If the offense takes shape, even better.

I believe Christian Jones is the real deal and a main target for me in this draft. Will be included in any of my mock drafts from here until draft day.

I like Nugent as Andrews eventual successor.

Feel like the 2ndary is set with Marcus Jones and Isaiah Bolden returning. Bolden was showing some good things in training camp. They’ll get that part figured out.

Always had Maye going 2nd so went with Daniels. I like them both for different reasons. Like Maye more but Daniels does have intangibles I like as well.

WR will be debate able but went with McConkey.

Simulator 4 rnd draft, offered LAC 2nd. Decided to see what a draft would look like if NE elected to wait on taking a QB later in the draft.
Here we take an elite WR. JPJ is sitting there at 34 and it too good to pass, which leads to a bit of a reach for a tackle (the smarter play would have probably had been to trade down and take Kiran Amegadjie later. ) There's still some good WR available with the 68 pick, but decided to go with a TE instead. Needed to trade up to get ahead of Pittsburgh in the 3rd to take Rattler.

In any case, trading down to 5-7 in these sims and getting an extra second in this draft is significant: Can either double dip for OL (OT,OG) or WR (or if they must CB/FS but this is the draft to repair the offense.) In real life, I don't expect anyone picking from 4-8 to trade up with the possible exception of the NYG, that and NE passing on a QB at 3 feels unlikely unless they're given a godfather offer from NYG or MN.)

(Using the https://www.profootballnetwork.com/mockdraft simulator, I never get offered more than 11, 23 from the Vikings and usually have to also give up 68 or 103. It's also difficult to initiate a trade in the 1st.)

Used a draft board from a reddit user.

Edit: Adding a silly result because why not (traded down 3x, flipped pick 44 for LAR 2025 picks. McCarthy at 34 lol)

I just tried the PFN draft simulator; first time I have attempted this. Even on "average speed" it moves very quickly if you are contemplating making a trade. Hit the pause button in order to slow the process down and make a trade offer. Once you're used to it use the "fast speed".

I traded down with San Diego, then traded down again to #12. McCarthy was drafted one spot ahead at #11.

Based on how fast the simulator was going, I was often going with BAP at a specific targeted position - without really thinking things through. So for example, I ended up with Fuaga rather than Fautanu at OT, without really putting any thought into one over the other. They had Fuaga ranked higher, so I picked him. Similarly I selected McConkey solely on his being the highest rated WR at that moment.

I also wanted a FS and CB but ended up with neither; the value just wasn't there as the draft unfolded for me. Ended up with two OT and two QB, but only one WR - plus a 2025 1st from Denver.

May try it again later staying put, or with only one trade down, or trading back up into an early pick.

Had an interesting mock where I got Maye and Alt. Total cost was 3rd, 34th, and, 1st in 2025. Not too realistic since Maye lasted till 10.

I tried it again with the idea of trading down and drafting an OT with the first pick, and rolling the dice at QB.

Traded #3 to LAC (WR Harrison)
Pats receive #5 and a 2025 2nd

5: OT Joe Alt, Notre Dame

34: WR Ladd McConkey, Georgia

Traded #68 to Minn (DT Kris Jenkins)
Pats receive #71, #177

71: WR Malachi Corley, Western Kentucky

103: QB Michael Pratt, Tulane

137: CB Jarrian Jones, FSU

177: QB Joe Milton, Tennessee

180: TE Jaheim Bell, FSU

193: DT Khristian Boyd, Northern Iowa

231: WR Jordan Whittington, Texas

The 2025 LAC pick should be near the top of the 2nd round; I don't foresee them doing that well in 2024.
Let Pratt and Milton battle it out for the future starting QB.

And here is another; this done with the concept of trading down. Ended up with 11 picks - plus a 2025 1st and two 2025 2nds.
Not loving the result, mostly because this draft is supposed to be better than next year's. Too much quantity over quality.
Probably should have drafted a WR at #49 rather than TJ Tampa. Rattler was off the board by #106.
It does set up to dominate the 2025 draft, though.

Traded #3 to Bengals for #18, #49, #80, #214 and a 2025 2nd.
Traded #18 and #103 to Miami for #21 and #55
21: OT Tyler Guyton, Oklahoma
49: CB TJ Tampa, Iowa State (could have also had DT T'Vondre Sweat here)
55: Traded to Tenn with a 2025 4th for #106, 2025 1st, 2025 2nd (Ennis Rakestraw was their pick)
68: TE Ja'Tavion Sanders, Texas
80: WR Jalen McMillan, Washington
106: OT Roger Rosengarten, Washington
137: RB Dylan Laube, UNH
180: QB Joe Milton, Tennessee
193: Edge Zion Tupuola-Fetui, Washington
214: S Sione Vaki, Utah
231: TE Tip Reiman, Illinois

2025: Tenn 1st, Tenn 2nd, Cincy 2nd

On a side note, look at where Jayden Daniels fell to in this mock - as well as the order in some positions
1 Chi, Drake Maye
2 Wash, Caleb Williams
3 Cin, OT Fashanu
4 Ariz, WR Odunze
5 LAC, WR MHJ
6 NYG, OT Alt
7 Ten, WR Nabers
8 Atl, Edge Turner
9 Chi, Edge Verse
10 NYJ, QB Daniels
11 Min, QB McCarthy
12 Den, OT Fautanu
13 LVR, OT Latham
14 NO, OT Fuaga
15 Ind, TE Bowers

Just one trade in this mock: traded away #3 to Tenn for #7 and #38

7: QB JJ McCarthy, Michigan (could have had either Daniels or McCarthy here)
34: WR Xavier Worthy, Texas
38: OT Patrick Paul, Houston
68: CB Max Melton, Rutgers
103: QB Spencer Rattler, S Carolina (let McCarthy and Rattler battle it out for the future QB)
(other options here: OT Delmar Glaze, WR Malik Washington, CB Josh Newton, S Jaden Hicks, EDGE Austin Booker)
137: TE Cade Stover, Ohio State
180: DT Gabe Hall, Baylor
193: S Evan Williams, Oregon
231: TE Tanner McLachlan, Arizona

============================================================================

Another one-trade mock, this time Arizona gets #3 and #68; Pats receive #4 and #35.

4. QB Jayden Daniels (next three picks are Nabers, McCarthy, Alt)
34. OT Jordan Morgan, Arizona
35. WR Xavier Worthy, Texas
103 CB Josh Newton, TCU
137 RB Audric Estime, Notre Dame
180 DT Keith Randolph, Illinois
193 S Josh Proctor, Ohio State
231 Edge Myles Cole, Texas Tech

=============================================================================

And a mid-round, one-trade mock.
Pats trade down, moving their 103 and 231 to Indy for #117 and #151.

3. QB Drake Maye
34 OT Jordan Morgan
68 WR Roman Wilson
117 CB Josh Newton
137 TE Theo Johnson
151 WR Javon Baker
180 RB Isaiah Davis
193 S Patrick McMorris

=================================================================

This mock was unusual: I was offered three consecutive trade downs, each dropping one spot.
Net result was adding #35, #37, and #38 - five of the first 38 picks.

Arizona receives #3 (Malik Nabers) and #68; Pats receive #4 and #35
Chargers receive #4 (Rome Odunze); Pats receive #5 and #37
Giants receive #5 (MHJ); Pats receive #6 and #47
Titans receive #6 (OT Fashanu) and #47; Pats receive #7 and #38

#7: QB JJ McCarthy
34: WR Ladd McConkey
35: OT Patrick Paul
37: WR Troy Franklin
38: CB T.J. Tampa
103 DT DeWayne Carter
137 RB Dylan Laube
180 TE Erick All
193 Edge Mohamed Kamara
231 LB Omar Speights

==================================================================

Zero-Trade Mock

3. Maye/McCarthy, take your pick
34 OT Tyler Guyton
68 WR Xavier Legette
103 WR Johnny Wilson
137 TE Cade Stover
180 CB M.J. Devonshire
193 RB Emani Bailey
231 DT Logan Lee

Zero-Trade Mock II: very similar

3. Maye/McCarthy, take your pick
34 OT Tyler Guyton
68 WR Roman Wilson
103 RB Will Shipley
137 CB Khyree Jackson
180 TE Jaheim Bell
193 S Kenny Logan Jr
231 DT Logan Lee

====================================

Another zero-trade mock - except going OT at #3

3 OT Joe Alt
34 QB Bo Nix
68 WR Roman Wilson
103 DT McKinnley Jackson (or could have had CB Mike Sainristill)
137 CB Khyree Jackson (or DT Tyler Davis, based on above)
180 RB Isaac Guerendo
193 Edge Mohamed Kamara
231 S Sione Vaki (or could have had TE McCallan Castles)

Same concept as above, but more offense-centric

3 OT Joe Alt
34 QB Bo Nix
68 WR Ja'Lynn Polk (WRs Roman Wilson, Johnny Wilson also available)
103 RB Jonathon Brooks
137 WR Brenden Rice
180 TE Erick All (RB Isaac Guerendo available here, had I not taken Brooks)
193 Edge Xavier Thomas
231 DT Jowonn Briggs

And yet one more no-trade, OT first mock

3 OT Joe Alt
34 QB Bo Nix
68 WR Xavier Legette
103 DT McKinley Jackson (WR Brenden Rice also available)
137 RB Dylan Laube
180 TE Erick All (DT Khristian Boyd also available, had I taken Rice above)
193 Edge Xavier Thomas
231 CB DeCamerion Richardson

==================================================================

In this one I accepted two trade offers with the first pick, moving from #3 to #4, then #4 to #6
Arizona receives #3 (MHJ) and #68 for #4 and #35
NYG receives #4 (Nabers) and #103 for #6, #47 and #70
Pats now have five of the top 70 picks: 6, 34, 35, 47, 70.

6. QB JJ McCarthy

Now I traded up, in order to get a better OT.
Miami receives #34 and #47; Pats receive #16

16 OT Taliese Fuaga
35 WR McConkey
70 RB Trey Benson
137 TE Theo Johnson
180 DT Khristian Boyd
193 QB Joe Milton
231 S Sione Vaki

There were 8 OTs taken in the first round, which has been the norm.
By trading up the Pats wind up with the #4 ranked OT, rather than the #9 OT.
If I had stayed put I could have had Suamataia at #34, and WR Troy Franklin at #47.

For those keeping score at home: That's 16 draft picks this year...And 16 draft picks next year, including 6 inside the top-100.

Let's face it: trading down - multiple times - from #3 is the team's best chance of quickly re-stocking their shelves, for this year AND next year too.

Bo Knows Football!

For this draft I went with a strategy that was polar opposite of captain stone's huge draft haul above, to see how it would turn out. In this case I went in wanting two top-20 picks, for a QB and OT.

I accepted a trade offer from NYG, trading the Pats #3 for a #6 and #47.
Tenn the offered me their #7 and a 2025 1st for the Pats #6 and #231.
I had been watching Jayden Daniels fall, and took him at #7.
Now I targeted Jacksonville at #17 for a trade up, for an OT.
I had to keep on sweetening the offer before the simulator would accept my trade.
Eventually the deal it took was Pats #34, #47 and #103 for their #17.
At #68 the Jets offered me their #72 and #134 for the Pats #68 and #193.
Even though it was only four spots, I thought I may loe out on the next best available WR (I did).
But I felt it would be worth it to move up from 193 to 134 (it was).
Result:
7 QB Jayden Daniels
17 OT Troy Fautanu
72 WR Ricky Pearsall
134 RB Dylan Laube
137 CB Jarrian Jones
180 TE Erick All
2025 Tenn 1st

While I didn't get anywhere near the depth the Pats need (DT, Edge, S, another WR, etc), this mock did yield two first round starters - plus what should be an early first round pick in 2025.

McCarthy went #8, and Bo Nix was taken earlier (#23) than most mocks.
Fautanu was the #5 OT - NINE OTs were taken in the first round.
If I had stayed at #34 the best available players were DT T'Vondre Sweat or WR Xavier Worthy.
There were no OTs worth taking at that point, not until the 3rd round.
