MVP thread

Patriots fans seem interested in the MVP debate, but LA fans are completely losing their minds for some reason.

Apologies if this was already posted.
Maybe sincere, I think it’s just posturing so when he ultimately votes for Stafford, he can have some history of objectivity.

I really don’t care about the regular season MVP. It’s nice that Maye is even mentioned. I think Stafford gets it. They will weigh TD passes and strength of schedule, and won’t put the accuracy, QB rating and the fact that Stafford’s weapons are way better, as well as QB play under pressure, which Maye faced way more pressure than Stafford faced behind his great line. They only really look at TD passes and yards, except when Brady leads in those categories (2021).

Every voter has an agenda, and the MVP is sometimes a popularity contest instead of the voters doing research. I don’t think the voters are that sophisticated in their knowledge of QB play.

I have never cared about individual awards.
Would it be cool if Maye wins, sure, but it won’t bother me if he doesn’t.
That said, there is certainly a case for both, and bias most certainly plays a role.
In regards to traditional stats vs advanced and looking at the holistic case for both.
I know there are voters (usually the older ones) that won’t dive into the advanced stats enough, but I also know a lot of the voters will. I have heard Breer and Kimes both talk about those things.

Why is everyone mad at Orlovsky? All season he has been hyping up Maye.
Because this is posturing.
He basically said last week he’s voting for Stafford, and it’s well known him and Stafford are friends.

For some reason I clicked on a link to hear Kurt Warner give his MVP pick.

He's going with Stafford because "you can't deny what he's done."

Pretty compelling argument.

It'll be relatively close but Stafford is gonna win it because most people are idiots

I have zero clue why Pats fans want Drake to win this.

We've seen, over and over, how a team with a chip on its shoulders performs.

Drake not winning the MVP also means one less factor driving his next contract's final cost up.

Stafford for MVP all day, please. I want a pissed off team hoisting Lombardi's.

Imagine if the defense didn't blow that second Bills game.

Winning the MVP won’t change his contract. Assuming he performs as he has, he will get paid period and will reset the market. He won’t get more on his next contract because he won the MVP in 2025.
They have to win 3 playoff games before the MVP winner is announced, let’s not put the cart before the horse.
If we assume the Pats make the SB, and Stafford wins MVP, do you think that’s going to make them better in the SB because they’re angry?

I don’t think winning or losing the MVP will play any factor in how the Pats play. Plus don’t we find out right before the Super Bowl ? Pats could be out of it by then (hopefully they are in it).

This. The only way it matters is if we make the Super Bowl. Even then, it's possible the Rams are long gone and nobody even cares about it anymore. It's a very narrow scope where that would matter imo.

He’s a big Maye fan. True. The issue is his inconsistent/bias takes.

Stafford is first team all pro, Maye second.

Pretty much means Stafford is the MVP, no one voting for Stafford for all pro is not gonna vote for him for MVP i know something weird happened with Lamar/Allen last year but that was cause they didn't wanna give Lamar a 3rd MVP this is over imo.
