Mock offseason, back to the SB

I looked over at Scouts Inc. on ESPN+ to get their rankings. We could get this haul.

1. Mason Graham - DT Michigan
2. Jonah Savaiinaea RT Arizona
3a Mason Taylor - TE LSU BPA
3b Edge - All of these available.
Jack Sawyer, Bradyn Swinson,Prince Umanmielan. I think Vrabes takes Sawyer. Manx - Swinson , myself Umanmielen
4. Jared Wilson - C Georgia
5. Kyle Williams - WR - Wash St

Their rankings didn’t go high enough for our 3 7th rounders. Maybe, RB, DB & LB.

In free agency I want; Ronnie Stanley, Mekhi Bechton and Edge. Azeez Ojulari.

I know both lines of scrimmage were my main focus. But, we need help there. Maybe, we can trade for a receiver after the draft.

Here's mine.

Yellow = Re-signing
Blue = FA signing
Green = Draft picks

The one semi-major quibble I have here is that I think having all three QBs in their first or second years is suboptimal.

Don't forget Levi Onwuzurike played on the Detroit DL so has a link to new DC Terrell Williams.
He's a 3-tech from what I read.

I was also looking at Davenport.

We will obviously be competing with the Jets for some of these guys. Now that Rodgers is out they don't seem like a team that's necessarily any closer to getting to the playoffs than we are.

It still burns me, as it did on draft night, that we passed on clearly the best player available (DeJean) in order to try and fill a need at WR (Polk). I despise this draft strategy.
From what I heard they wanted Leon Coleman.

Not gonna get into money details or anything like that, but manxman2601 and dliverey44 work inspired me to play around with a full offseason plan.
I would sign:
LT - Alaric Jackson
LG - Teven Jenkins
RT - Justin Skule
WR - Nick Westbrook-Ikhine
NT - Poona Ford
DE - Chase Young
LB - Robert Spillane
S - Elijah Molden
Plus some vet QB and a possible Kupp trade.

Assuming Hunter is who's available at 4, i would then draft
DL - Elijah Roberts
DL - Darius Alexander
DL - CJ West
DE - Princely Umanmielen
LB - Nick Martin
RB - LeQuint Allen
T - Logan Brown
WR - Jack Bech

Some guys likely wont be available but thats roughly where my focus would be, improving the lines.

I think that's a great job and arguably the best one yet. Some thoughts:

1. Any mock with Roberts, Alexander, West, Martin, Allen and Brown (fast becoming my favourite developmental tackle prospect) is borderline a dream mock.
2. Although, you don't seem to have a 4th overall pick in there.
3. Two minor concerns. I considered Chase Young but there seemed to be questions about his character and determination which doesn't vibe well with Vrabel. Perhaps Vrabel could be the one to turn him around. If so, then it becomes a potentially excellent signing.
4. The other is that I'm not a big fan of Princely as I don't think he plays with much power or violence.
5. I don't know if you realised it, I did mention it upthread, but Poona Ford was the 3rd best graded run defending defensive tackle last season. The Chargers will probably keep him, but he's right up there as a must sign for me now.

Good FA and excellent mock. Nicely done.

Well, i did have the advantage of seeing the work you guys did first, so technically this is just a mix
Thanks for the comments, appreciate it.

The 4th was used with Hunter, thus the need to include a pass rusher specialist in there. And even though, like you, im not enamored with Princely, he was surprisingly available at 38 in the simulation i ran but that is unlikely to happen anyway. It could be someone like Josaiah Stewart, Swinson or Kennard.

As for Chase, i was hoping the Ohio connection could maybe help, Im just a fan of the guy and its such a glaring need on this defense.
Yeah i know man, both Ford and Spillane are unlikely to be available but who knows right? But as soon as you mentioned that tidbit about Ford he was a must sign.

Well done. If you ever want to get into the money side, Overthecap.com has a great interactive setup.

This looks great my only complaint is that FA is still a month away.

Great

Thanks for reminding me of this

Guys. does anyone have the fax machine number for the Pats front office because I've just fixed the Patriots. Admittedly it took spending almost all our FA Money, a lot of re-drafting and team friendly trade downs in the later rounds. CB2 and the TE future on the team are the only concerns...oh...and massive FA contracts moving forward.

I decided to go for quality over quantity in FA and to hit the OL and DL hard in both FA and the draft. Probably went overboard with 4 DT additions but I was preparing for possibly no Barmore and cutting Godchaux in '26.

Re-signed

Austin Hooper
Jonathan Jones (couldn't afford to spend big on a FA CB).
Alex Austin
Christian Elliss

FA Signings

Alaric Jackson
Tee Higgins
Poona Ford
Milton Williams
Trey Smith
Elijah Molden
Zach Baun

Only real annoyance was that I really wanted Jalen Royals as my WR3 to add some more speed but missed out on him by 3 picks.

I find it hard to imagine them landing Tee Higgins and I don't know that I trust Onwenu at tackle.

Onwenu grades just as well at RT as he does RG. In fact, if you go back to 2023, he was significantly better at RT than RG. And I don't see why Caedan Wallace shouldn't be given a chance there considering he was a 3rd round pick that has only appeared in 5 games.

RT will be a problem unless someone surprisingly steps up. The reality is that FA is looking bleak for the position and we all know how we feel about this draft class at tackle.
