Mock draft game discussion thread

They called Chris Johnson a 3rd down back as well. Faulk could teach Best a lot about blocking and route running, and Best would be our most dangerous weapon besides Randy Moss.

A touchdown threat on every play who must be accounted for at all times. Not something opponents are used to at all from the Pats.

Plus he could line up wide and destroy from out there as well.

Watch the draft do-overs next winter.

I see what you're saying, and maybe he will be. You can't deny the horrible pass blocking, which is why I don't see him playing here.

Another factor people are forgetting when looking for a back, account the weather. There will be rain/snow in November/December. Best/Spiller strenths would be negated. I'd prefer Tate/Gerhart in a Newengland playoff game.

CJ might have been a similar size, but was much stronger and had shown he could carry the rock on all three downs in College.

If we want that type of player, go all out for Spiller or trade into the early 3rd for McCluster. Best would be a waste of a pick in the second round with the need at receiver, the defensive value, and the fact that we have Faulk on the roster.

I think Gerhart is an excellent prospect, and I think Both he and Best are worth 2nd rounders for the Pats.

It's a good point that Best isn't custom built for Decembers in Foxboro, although he is custom built for Super Bowl and Indy turf.

I think Best is more decisive than Spiller, not hesitating at all. Spiller has a chance of being a bit too much like Maroney for my taste in that regard, although Spiller seems a bit better breaking tackles than Best.

I think if it wasn't for Best's concussion, he'd be right there with Spiller as a prospect.

We do have a more immediate need for a bigger back though, so as much as I love Best, a Gehrhart even a Blount might be more practical right now, although Best would be more electrifying and potentially a superstar.

Sapp for Green Bay seems like a great fit and good value there. I like Jason Worilds as a binky, but Sapp has at least two inches on him, as well as some experience in the 3-4.

Ok Gm's if we need to vote on this selection we have about 30 minutes until the deadline. The Cardinals first pick was Jermaine Gresham TE.

I was just thinking about Sapp to the Packers last night, actually. I think he'd be a good fit in their scheme, which is much more attack oriented than ours is. He'd make a great bookend to Matthews.

As for the vote on the Cardinals . . . hm. That's a tough one. They could use help all over, really. I think we need to give them someone on defense, though. How about a linebacker to make up for the loss of Dansby? I'll say Koa Misi, because he can play inside or outside and should have the size and athleticism to take Dansby's old spot. *shrug* I don't have a great handle on their needs, honestly. If someone else can chime in, that would be great.

I'll vote on Koa Misi because the Cardinals need linebacker help inside and outside. I don't think Paris Lenon is the answer and Joey Porter is getting up in age.

They desperately need a NT.

I'll vote Takeo Spikes.

That would be a huge reach for him at this stage. His stock has slid dramatically.

not so sure that one timed 40 would cause him to drop that far. End of the second seems right for the number of 3-4 teams looking for SILBs.

About 12:30 I'm going to post what player has the most votes so far. We need to move on. If you're online I would like your input thanks.

Koa Misi 2
Brandon Spikes 1

Arizona needs a CB or ILB.
If we're talking CBs, you're down to the 5th best one, which is why I would have drafted McCourtney for them in the 1st but that ship has sailed.

Brandon Spikes does have some question marks but he fills a rather huge hole left by Dansby. So I'd vote Spikes for Arizona at this point. AJ Edds is another possibility at LB.

Spikes...........

Gm's looks like in about 30 minutes we will need to vote on the Seahawks pick also. First 2 selections were Bryan Bulaga OT and Dez Bryant WR. I gave PowerRunRevival a chance to change his pick but the person he wanted has already been selected and I have not heard back from him so looks like Spikes will remain the choice.

Best available DB for the Seahawks. Their secondary is a disgrace.
