Consider: The Patriots led the AFC in scoring with 441 points. The Falcons scored 100 points MORE than the Patriots. Except for laying an egg against the Eagles mid season these guys score plenty of points every game.

By virtue of their ability to score the Falcons will be formidable for any opponent. But they have a porous D and that is why it won't be Patriots v Falcons. This will be a #1 vs #1 again with the lesser chance of a 2014 SB repeat Pats v Sea.

I don't believe a rookie QB has led there team to a SB in the history of the NFL and I do not believe that will change this year. Commit to stopping Zeke and make Dak beat you. It's Big Ben repeated with a lesser defense and a rookie RB instead of a grisled veteran.

As much as people seem to love the Giants that offense is terrible, I don't see them getting in. But would be interesting to see how they would fare against Dallas for a 3rd time.

Green Bay, I'm not sold on, but it's a down year in general as far as truly dominant teams go, so they are as likely to get in as anyone else.

I think Seattle will handle the Lions at home. And I think GB beats the Gmen. Setting up GB at Dallas and Seattle at Atlanta. Seattle beat Atlanta in Atlanta already this year in a close game. I do think Atlanta probaly wins that game. The Thomas injury is really hurting them. Hard to see them slowing down that offense without them. But a couple of turn overs in Seattle's favor could be more than the Falcons defense could handle. We'll see I guess.

So for me, I think it's either one of GB, Atlanta or Seattle. I think Dallas is about to go on an impressive run for several years, assuming Jones doesn't manage to stick his **** in the way, but I don't think they make the big dance this year.

Oakland, GB, and Denver are the only good teams they've beaten this year.

Their record is inflated by the weak opposition in their schedule.

I think the top 2 NFC seeds are both 1 and done in playoffs.

Pats average 15.75 PPG, Falcons 23.5 PPG defense

The Falcons are interesting. They can really score against the junk teams but can struggle against others. The Eagles absolutely throttled the falcons.

I don't buy it. The Falcons's defense is very very weak. Contain Beasley for most of the game and their defense can be shredded by any team. If they make it, it will take some key injuries to their opponents.

Yeah, it's a shoot out every week for the Falcons, and we all know how that can end if you run into a good D like Seattle or the damn Giants. They won't have to play outside anywhere though, so that could help Atlanta.

Yea I'm totally perplexed about the NFC.

I genuinely think if Dallas plays its game they can get it done. At home. Running the ball. Playing it safe on D. Dax maintaining his composure and making smart passes.

If the Giants can squeak out a little more offense and Eli can be smart with the ball they can also get to Houston. Those are big ifs. Their D is good enough.

GB & ATL- Both have questionable defenses. ATL has a better running game. Same team, IMO.

DET- I give them very little chance.

SEA- If Earl Thomas was there then I'd mark them as the SB favorite but since hes been out they are 2-2 and allowing 25ppg. Offensively I thought they were good enough but not with that D.

So, if DAL plays with poise, GB, ATL and SEA find a D and NYG finds an O and plays mistake free football all of those teams can get to the SB.

Hope the Pats play against a pocket passer (Ryan) instead of a competent mobile QB (Rodgers). When plays get extended, the Pats secondary tends to break down.
Playing against Dak would be interesting.....mobility but inexperienced. Will his composure continue into the playoffs?

Slightly OT......If Dallas makes it to the Super Bowl....a game in Texas....I am curious how well Dallas will handle the media/distractions/ limelight over two weeks. Except for their attention seeking owner, the team has done a remarkable job so far this year.... focused, business like, little drama. Even perpetual child Dez Bryant has minimized his antics this year. But with two weeks of microphones shoved in their faces, can this seemingly unfazed squad remain "team first." I'd like to see Portnoy on the field media day, all tuxed up, asking Dez what it feels like to be a supporting cast member along for the ride. Maybe Tommy Curran can get an exclusive with Jerry..."Mr. Jones, tell us how you pull the strings for your team." Factor in the Romo narrative, it could be very entertaining and distracting.
Being a homer, I have every faith NE will handle its business in their usual professional manner....at least until the predictable Herald bombshell surfaces. Or will it be John Henry's Globe that will want to knock the Pats down a few pegs?
