Mike Westhoff on Pats/Texans

They've given him some good air time here on the radio, locals have called him a class act and he just trashes the Pats/BB, I can't stand him, he's just a jealous, hater weasel.

Can't listen to this. Who's he referring to - TB12?

Any time a game is played the favored team can lose. Buster Douglas sometimes beats Mike Tyson. A bunch of college hockey players sometimes beat the mighty russian hockey team. The Patriots chances of winning are not 100%. This was showed in the Jets game of 2010 where they gameplanned it well and deftly exploited the Patriots soft spots (in all the talk of that 2010 game, it is overlooked how much the Jets deserve credit for how well they prepared and played in a tough Foxboro atmosphere).

Now that we got that out of the way, it was very reasonable to confidently believe Tyson would almost certainly win and the Russians would almost certainly win. It wasn't hubris it was a very reasonable reading of the available data. And the data here suggests the Texans are overmatched (no not Buster Douglas or College Hockey team overmatched). The Texans and Patriots have established benchmarks of capability over the last 5 and 10 games. The benchmarks are against Houston in all 4 major categories. On top of that this is in Foxboro and the Patriots will also have to underperform from their PO home benchmark.

These benchmarks paint a difficult hill to climb for Houston. That's not hubris! that is the reality of the data. On Saturday we will find out if the Patriots are able to perform to their likelihoods (aka their benchmarks).

Not going to listen to that prick but the quote sounds like he's advocating going for a head shot. That guy just doesn't get today's NFL.

BTW, westhoff, the Patriots have the best two, maybe best three, QBs in this game.

Who is he? National guy? Never heard of him.

he's an old drunk...pizz on his head

Texans head coach Bill O’Brien said his team will use the Patriots not cheating against them as motivation.

“Look, I coached with the Patriots for a few years and I know they cheat at everything and at every opportunity,” he said. “So for them to not think they have to cheat against us … well, it’s a real slap in the face. I think my players are going to come out very motivated to show the Patriots that they will have to cheat at least a little bit to beat us.”

Good interview, although I think Westhoff is underestimating the Patriots ability to go deep.

Thanks

Great ST coach but . . . Here is one of his great motivational quotes!

That's what kinda cracks me up too. Like... even if they did knock Brady out on the second play of the game, we'd still probably win by 2+ touchdowns.

Westhoff? Former Jester Special Teams coach.

Oh...He's the one that said , "The Patriots do stuff too." as to imply they engage in underhanded activities.

Boy they sure are drudging up the best and the brightest these days for commentary.

Wait, was he the guy that tripped someone on the sideline a la Mike Tomlin?
